HIRING: Community Managers

We are looking for Star Control Community Managers.

What is a Community Manager?

Here's Paradox's description:

http://career.paradoxplaza.com/jobs/29440-community-manager

This would be a part-time position (so you can do it in your spare time).  You'd be helping with setting up a Discord server and on our forums and elsewhere.

Basically, we want to see Star Control represented by Star Control fans.

I have a few questions Frogboy:

It's just one Manager? (i see you wrote "Managers" but just to clarify)

The CM needs to be North American? (i know it needs to be fluent in English)

The CM needs a background in something?

What's the payment?

There is a test of sorts?

Sorry for any question (if i somehow asked something i shouldn't)

;) this is actually a nice thing you guys are doing, and reminds me on how some companies are interacting more with fans, it makes a kind of bond with the consumer!

Sounds neat! Are there any absolute minimum requirements? Like time involved on forums or such?

Hello just a few questions:

How much time would you be expecting a CM to dedicate from a part-time perspective

Would this be for just SC or for other parts of Stardock's portfolio of games and software?

Would you like a CV of previous experience with regards to previous CM experience?

This sounds awesome.  So many questions....  Don't know much about any technical requirements (didn't see a whole lot in the description) but, the customer service side of things one may see on forums I could get down.  Interesting, good luck to all interested.

I'd love to help, maybe on a Mod status.  I'm not as available as I would like to be due to traveling for putting in for a formal part time job.

I'm used to running Slack/Discord for work/play and my main role at work is QC/training/communication, so I'm happy to use some of that to assist with this.

Discord is definitely something that I can handle. I run my own bot and already have a server set up for Ashes of the Singularity. I have also worked with helping other developers run their Discord servers, including most recently for the RTS game 8-Bit Armies made by Petroglyph Games.

Having said that although I can handle most anything from an administration standpoint, when it comes to a user facing role I would prefer if I had someone to work with on that. In my experience having more than one person filling the role helps to manage any possible conflicts as users feel like they have more than one face to turn to if there is a problem.

If desired I should be able to provide a reference from Petroglyph Games.

Although I have not set up a discord server myself, I've put together websites and forums and such in the past so I doubt it's beyond me. If I was considered for this role I would do the reaserch to make sure I was prepared.

As  comunity manager, I've had public facing jobs before and take a personal interest in developer comunity relations, to the point I could wax lyrical about the ups and downs of Star Citizen's comunity management.

To continue in reguards to comunity management, I've run events for groups of up to 60 people which required me to juggles a lot of goings on, but that's something I excel at.

You can judge for yourself how my internet manner is as we've conversed somewhat on the GC:3 discord, however I also know how to properly represent a company due to my past customer facing roles in which I had to keep comunication with both public customers and busness.

Apologies if I've repeated myself at all here, writing this via phone.

Thanks,

Charles Davies
