Skirmish Mods

Details on the three mods.

Unit Pack Link

Adds buildable Brute MK1, Sentry, Sapper, Emergency Turret, Carving Turret, Micro Turret and a more advanced Quantum Relay to the PHC. Adds buildable Saboteur, different version of the Avatar, Serpentine Turret and a more advanced Quantum Archive to the Substrate.

Unit Pack+Engineers Link

Same as Unit Pack, but also lets the PHC factory build the Substrate Constructor and the Substrate Assembly the PHC Engineer.

Prebuilt Extractors Link

When enabled, all metal and radioactive points will have indestructible extractors placed on them.

Is there anyway to make this mod work in multiplayer games with my friends? Being able to build both races at once sounds amazing! O_O

Last time I was playing Ashes it worked when I was playing with a friend, so it still should.

Hey bbc6rgf57ytty5yxyw5gt, unfortunately the game greys out starting a custom multiplayer match with the mod installed. So lame, why can't we play mods with friends? That's stupid.

Anyways, when I tested it on skirmish neither faction could build a nexus or worker for the other faction.

You can play mods with friends, you need to launch the modding build under Steam Betas. It's a temporary solution because otherwise it would be possible for people to play mods on ranked, we don't have proper version detection implemented, but it's coming.

Should be in the skirmish options.

Either the modification to the UI I made isn't supported or I made a mistake but I think everything is in order.

Hello bbc6rgf57ytty5yxyw5gt,

I am very interested in trying this mod but I am running into two issues.
1) I get errors when launching the game
Error: Unable to find modules file. Item: 'PHC_AdvancedQuantumRelay'
and
Error: Unable the find modules file. Item: 'SS_AdvancedQuantumArchive'

2) In game when I try to build the other teams engineer/constructor nothing happens, it doesn't queue when I click it.

Please help!

Thanks

Disable it in the mod manager and delete the files. Download it again and see what happens.

It's working fine for TAG Utter, so I assume it's on your side.

How does one install a mod into Ashes?
Go to Documents>My Games>Ashes of the Singularity-Escalation>Mods and paste the folder of the mod you downloaded into the mod folder.

Thank you.  No wonder I didn't find it--that "My Games" level threw me when I was looking for something sensible as a location.

A bit of a balance issue with the Unit pack + Engineers:  This gives you everything the other side has other than the orbitals--but not the limitations.  Thus, if you start Substrate you don't have storage limits, but if you start PHC you do.

I really like the advanced quanta generators--the late game ends up with so many of them around, it's nice having them fit in half the space.  An even more advanced version would be nice, as well as advanced versions of the refinery and harvester.  (Yes, the harvester doesn't take up terrain space but it does take up space around the node--and will crash the game if you have too many.)

Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about the storage limits, you're stuck with them if you start as PHC.

I'll have a look at making advanced versions of the refinery and harvester, but it probably won't happen for a while.

Thanks for these maps; I really wanted some new ones specifically for skirmish which is all I play.  And for that, to survive against high-level AI, I need defensible chokepoints to turtle behind until I can build up enough to attack.  Several of these fit the bill well.

A couple notes, which may be particular to my system.  Win 10; NVida GPU, Ashes v2.76.52940:

1)  On all the DF maps I've tried, most bare resource nodes do not show as white dots in the zoomed-out views.  On native maps I can zoom-out and see quickly which ones still need extractors, but on these DF maps the only visible bare ones are those by the Nexus.

2)  The Round-In map has a vertical black bar right through the map on the left side.  Seems like textures aren't appearing.

Here an image showing both issues:

Umm... I can't even find where I got the maps from in October.  Must have been this thread.  I think.  Can you please point me to the updated maps?

Thanks!

Just use the link in the first post.  He put the new versions in the same place.

I'm totally at a loss.  All I find in this post, and on the ModDB site, are links to unit packs.  Those don't have maps in them, and I don't see maps mentioned anywhere.  He only has 4 posts on this forum, and they don't involve maps either.  Can you please hand-hold a little more and steer me to the place?  Thank you.
