What official mod tools are being considered for creation with the game? How many customization options due you estimate will be available for players to tinker with?

Since a major effort in our development is to make it so that people can create their own stories and universes we’ve developed:

Star Control: Universe Maker – Lets you design out your own universe (stars, planets, etc.)

Star Control: Story Maker  – Lets you create your own stories

We also have in development a World Maker (so you can design planets), a Ship Maker (for designing your own ships) and a plugin so you can make your own aliens if you want (for diplomacy).

So does this mean no 3v3, space hockey, or local multiplayer mods? Just tools to expand the game? Hmm...

Guess you can't DOTA it up like you could with WC3...

We could (and totally should) do a podcast or livestream with the aliens saying the words, because they will have the full facial movements.

You should totally do more events to include founders....

that would be post-release.

So we'll get the tools to expand the content at release, and then we will get tools to "break the rules" post-release while you guys work on the sequel / expansion?

I can live with that.

I read both interviews with Brad, and found a couple highlights that were interesting to me:

1) "the main cast of Origins is all-new" - he was very specific, saying "the main cast"... I take this to mean that the main aliens from SCII will not be making an appearance. However, the supporting cast could very well make an appearance in this universe, and this month's Vault update shows that at least the Precursors will be back. But, who else that didn't have a main actor role might be back? The most obvious to me, would possibly be the Dnyarri! He had a supporting role in SCII and I'd love to see that devious little bastard back for more. The Taalo? The Burvixese? Any of the original Sentient Milieu? Gg. Keel-Verezy. Mael-Num. ZEBRANKY?! Also, I feel like it's been very strongly hinted that the Androsynth will play a role, and they were not a "main cast" in SCII. It's even been clearly stated that this universe takes place AFTER the Androsynth rebellion... so they're IN it, clearly. In some form.

2) In the interview, I FINALLY understand why Brad's always making a huge deal about Lip-Syncing! I always thought, whenever it was brought up, what the heck is the big deal? Every game has lip-syncing these days. But, it's actually because "You can literally put in the words and they will say them." It's more for when we make our own stories. When we create a universe, and input all the text, and assign lines to certain aliens - these aliens will ACTUALLY lip-sync all of our input text. That's actually pretty cool, and certainly has never been done, to my knowledge. It'll give that added bonus to make our own stories that much more authentic. I like the idea!

The rest is pretty standard stuff, but I thought those two points were pretty thought-provoking.
