Where do I put a modded "EXP1_FactionDefs" to make it work?

This file has the faction defs for Arceans, Torians.

My installation has the original here:

..\Galactic Civilizations III\DLC\EXP1_Mercenaries\Game

Where in "My Games" do I put a modded version?

I did change the vanilla faction defs and put the file into:

..\My Games\GalCiv3\Mods\MyGC3Mod\Game  -- this works for vanilla,but...

1. Putting in a modded EXP1_FactionDefs in there does not work

2. Do I need to replicate the DLC folder hierarchy for this? I tried to put it in:

..\My Games\GalCiv3\Mods\MyGC3Mod\DLC\EXP1_Mercenaries\Game

...but this does not have an effect either. I don't want to mess around with the orginal files, so how can I change that stuff with copies in My Games?

First the obvious. Are Mods enabled? GalCiv3/Prefs.ini file has "EnableMods=<0/1>".

Everything within Mods gets included. You can see that in GalCiv3/debug.err file, where it shows it can't find files matching *.gc3wsdata within the Mods folder.

OK, but do you want to override or make new races based upon them? If it is the latter, you have to have a different filename and Internal name for both races.

I just tried copying the same file, moving it to Mods/<Modname>/Game and changed the Faction name, it got picked up and entirely overridden.

Hm, maybe I made some mistake - thanks for the reply. I didn't know using the debug.err file as help to track such probs.

For now I just want to change the appearances/ship colors for those Arceans, Torians. Mods are enabled (my changes on vanilla factions show up fine).

Edit: got it now. I put it exactly into my mods game folder - I must have made some really silly mistake when doing this previously. However, now it works :)
