Since most of us don't venture out of this subforum, I though I would post this as an FYI.

Greetings!

This Fall Stardock began a major overhaul across the board of its community infrastructure.

The first update was of our WinCustomize.com customization site (www.wincustomize.com) to greatly speed it up.

The next update was to speed up our forums across all the Stardock community sites.

This past week, we launched the third major update: Forum community awards.  You will notice on people's posts that there are various little dots and awards by their names.  We will be adding more as time goes on.

Here's where you come in:

  1. What other awards do you want to see? (mouse over them to see what they are, the tooltip is a bit slow right now, fixing now)

  1. What other features would you like to see on the forums that would make you inclined to use our forums more?

We are gradually going around and promoting users so that they get more pips. It'll take a few months for that to get completed.

At this forum it's hard to see which posts are new, there are too many pinned posts first, also an official update feedback topic that's pinned would be nice :)

^ LOL.

I stopped caring for this forum. It is still and WILL always be inferior to specialized open-source forum platforms like DISCOURSE.

  • It's slower than Discourse
  • It's less user friendly than Discourse
  • You can't drag and drop pics or other files into replies like Discourse
  • No Real-Time notifications like Discourse (superb feature that turns threads into chat)
  • Mods can't merge/manage threads like any other 10 years old forum
  • etc. etc. etc.

Oh wow, we got fake internet medals... The only ones interested in those are millennial teens and cuorebrave. XD

We should agree to Karma each other's posts and drive our Karma counts sky high. It would drive CB crazy. }:>

EDIT: I've taken the first steps in this evil plan.

My point is that Stardock doesn't need to reinvent the wheel. The wheel is already out there for them to take.

But they already reinvented the wheel and are in love with it. We are stuck with this abomination.

On the plus side... We don't get any Tapatalk nag screens!

All of a sudden I feel lucky to be old... having grown up on things like BBS systems, and primitive HTML forums like DiqusBBS... I don't even understand the issues you guys have with the forum, haha.

Apparently I would have needed to ever so much have taken a glance at "social media" to understand... which I haven't:-)

No, it isn't a social media focus that you are missing. You have surely used vBulletin. This forum software seems to have been meant to be a vBulletin clone. It just behaves wrongly and is polished in all the wrong places.

If one drives Honda Civic (nothing against Honda Civics ;) ) his whole life, one wouldn't know what it's like to drive a Ferrari (I'm not affiliated with Ferrari in any way *_*  ). One might even think Honda Civic is the pinnacle of transportation. :P

What car would you compare this forum to? Pontiac Fiero?

(P.S. We almost have you to 100. Poor CB.)

^ That would be fairly precise. A poor man's Lambo.

HEY! I only want to hit 100 karma before I give up and never care about karma again.

I won't even care about real life karma. I kick old ladies and puppies when no one's watching.

My '67 Firebird did 12 second 1/4 in Denver, where we are a full second slower due to altitude.  The fastest car I've ever driven.  I've also driven a 12-cyl 1968 Jaguar XKE Roadster, a very special DeLorean (only 6 were built with Renault Formula 1 engines, very fast), and a 1974 Ferrari Dino.

My favorite by far... the Dino.  The slowest, most primitive of them all.  But just look at it!!!

That was a perfect comparison you gave, my taste in forums and cars appears to be similar.  Hahaha!
