Time for an updated survey on Founders' PC specs?

Time for an updated survey on Founders' PC specs?

I was scanning through posts of Nov/Dec last year, realizing that this Founder's Experience has been going for almost a year now.

During that time it's likely that many of us have upgraded from the systems that we originally spec'd out a year ago. I know I have...

It would probably be interesting for the SCO team to get an updated view of Founders' tech specs and publish a comparison of findings, for their benefit and our interest.

I would be okay with support for this system too. It wouldn't be as convenient as the Switch, but that could be fixed by extra controllers.

Asus G551JW-CN009D laptop:
*15.6" Full HD IPS (1920x1080)
*Core i7-4720HQ 2.6GHz
*GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5
*8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 128GB SSD
*Windows 8.1 Pro

Fun fact: This laptop was priced 1000 euros in 2015 (including VAT). Today in 2017 laptop with almost same specs (just newer i7 CPU), costs exactly the same or is even more expensive (!!!). I guess this will change with influx of new GTX 1050(Ti) GPU in 2017.

Still, he point is that this gives decent snapshot of what medium class gaming laptops are capable in last couple of years. Due to this, I would strongly suggest aiming for at least 1080p/30fps performance on medium settings with these machines.

If such goal is not obtainable, please look into adding resolution scaling technology in the game where UI would ran at native resolution and 3D elements rendered in lower resolutions. This would be such great boon for weaker machines. Also considering game consist of multiple game loops of varing graphics complexity, you could have resolution scaling depend on the game element. For example if space combat is less demanding have option to have it run at full resolution, but then have alien dialoge or lander sequences with 80% resolution scaling due to being more demanding.

 EDIT:

Outdated. See new post.

^ 1080p/30fps?... Surely you mean 1080p/60fps. Who the phahk plays their games @ 30fps?....

GTX 960M is equivant of GTX 750Ti. So it can't really handle 2015+ games in 1080p/60fps. Maybe in 40-50fps the less demanding ones, or 900p/40fps for more demanding ones (Withcher 3, Deus Ex: MD...).

You got it wrong. Peasants have no choice.

While PC players can play either in 1080p/30fps or 900p/43fps or 768p/60fps, with same graphics details, if they have weaker spec PC. You get the idea. Another reason why I really think implementing resolution scaling feature is really important.
