The Ten (or more) Commandments of Star Control: Origins

This post is about the absolute-most-important things Stardock needs to include in the reboot, or needs to NOT include, in order for this reboot to be true to its heritage.

Posts should start with "Thou shalt..." or "Thou shalt not..." and we don't have to stop at 10.

  1. Thou shalt not make this a 1st or 3rd person over-the-shoulder space shooter

Thou shalt not over-encumber combat with complex, global systems.

Thou shalt not include puppets or space cows unless it is in a mocking manner.

  1. Thou shalt not think too hard about the shadows (its okay guys)
  2. Thou shalt include many relevant easter-eggs from the other star controls or sci-fi in general

Thou shalt provide the most comprehensive and robust scripting system for modding as is humanly possible.

Thou shalt have an homage alien race for the Syreens and have them in a quirky alliance with the MackDreemees.

Thou shalt have some form of shadows for the ones who upgraded their 286 to pentiums.

Thou shalt make as many transitions as seamless as possible. Including Ship Upgrade screen, Alien dialog screen, Space Station screen if there's such, space - hyperspace - quasi-space transition and vice versa.

Thou shalt pay great deal of attention to UI. I can do this all day and it feels sooo satisfying (fps are higher on site):
