Hello everyone,

My name is Dave, and I just joined as a founder.

SC2 is my favorite game of all time, and I hope to help make Origins great as well.

Hi, Im Haakon From Denmark, very exited to have joined the Founders:)

Played Sc1+2 on Amiga many years ago and Easy the best game ever. Its the game i used most part of my summer holiday playing through and felt I was part of a great story. No game has ever to this day had the complexity and creativity to come close to sc2. I remember the starmap where I would have it at my side of the computer and made plans for which star system i should visit and what might happened next. Great memories.

It just occurred to me that I never posted in here, even though I've been a founder for a while now.

Anyway, hi, I'm Brian from New Zealand. Longtime fan of the series, but especially SC2 where my mate and I would spend hours and days and weeks playing supermelee against each other. I still have my original boxed copies of SC1 and SC2, and I even still have my original copy of StarFlight, which SC was a spiritual successor of.

Very stoked, and looking forward to this game!

Hi, my name is Rich. Played SCII when it hit the 3DO, and jump back into it every now and then with UQM. Tried getting into those forums but life got a hold of me (because being an adult is oh so fun) and lost track of everything going on. Jumped back into the game recently, and was looking up some info and stumbled across this new game in the series. Really excited to see how this plays out, and glad the community is pretty involved so far.

Hi just got founders edition I started playing sc2 when I borrowed my friends 3do back in about 1997 so I was a little late getting on the bandwagon. But to this day it is my favorite game. I'm a 33 years old man from Canada.

Hello from California USA! Long time player here, loved all star control games starting with the first. Can't wait to play this one!

Hello there.

I am a 30 year old guy from Israel.

I cannot begin to describe how excited I was to learn about SCO's existence. I recently started replaying SCII and this has made me even more excited. Today I finally became a founder.

It is now 5 AM here, which is a shame since I need to wake up in just over a couple of hours, but this is the result of reading up on most of the vault's info.

I am just about to finish up my Computer Science degree and am currently employed part-time as a student developer in a company that is part of the gaming industry. (Read: I am technical, give me all of the things. ;) )

Hi,

I'm from Ottawa Canada. 40 years old. Played Starcon 2 when it first came out and I still play the game through every year or so. I have a six year old who also absolutely loves the game. He has a minecraft map where he is building his favorite starships.

Lets hope for a good game. :)

Hi I'm James from UK. I'm a global product manager for an enterprise software product.

I loved SC1, 2 and 3, although I think 2 was my favourite. My best friend and I used to be addicted all those years ago.

Really looking forward to SCO and excited about the latest (Feb) update on the vault and the potential that this game has. I've also roped my friend into becoming a founder and he's equally excited.

Hi all! I'm a new founder as of today, yay! I'm Marc from Chicago, USA and I go by Corgano.

I played the original series way back when and really enjoyed it. I'm very much looking forward to the new SCO and seeing all the different aliens they come up with and all of their personality quirks.  :)

Hello!

I just purchased the pre-order a few days ago. I really look forward to getting a chance to play! I played SCI as a kid and then played SCII as a young adult.

Hi,

I'm Paul, and I've been playing games since StarTrek and Zork came out on the Dec PDP 10. Those ASCII interfaces meant you had to visualize a lot!

I completely missed the Star Control series though. Does that make me a bad man?

Never mind, I've played a lot of others!

My 7 year old and I have ~600 hours of SOASE and great mods like Interregnum/Stars (+ other games like MC/XCOM 1/2) and really looking forward to this one.

I use them to engage him in bilingual english conversation/reading skills as he's half Australian/Japanese (based in Tokyo) and I typically get 2-3 hours science/story/strategy/tactics discussion out of him for 1 hour gameplay.

http://www.coplay.ninja has some blog posts about this.

We also collaboratively designed a little casual mobile space game http://www.sonicviz.com/wp/project/orbon/

He's interested in modding SOASE but he's also excited to be involved in this at the early stage.

Space games are the best!

Edit: I picked up SC 2 on GOG and urquan masters freebie on SourceForge to have a play.

There's also a Ur-Quan Masters HD beta https://sourceforge.net/projects/urquanmastershd/

Hello all, my name is Arthur, from Portugal and i'm 38 atm. StarControl2 was probably the best game i've ever played and i'm realy thrilled to have another shot at something similar. Very strange that no other game was able to captivate me as much as SC2 in therms of exploration and story.

Just got the founders pre-order, still browsing stuff around since it seems i'm kinda late to the party ;)

Cheers

Hi everyone, my name is Yoav and i've been a star control fan since the original and became an absolute zealot of it after playing star control 2 . I play nowadays the fan-remake of ur quan masters with my 4.5 year old daughter and we have the times of our lives playing it to this day. Currently work as a post doc in computational biophysics so i have some experience in programming (R and python mostly) which probably has no use for anything that's related to game development.

Absolutely looking forward to come back to this game as soon as its early access is released.

Hello!

Very excited to be here :) albeit a little late...

My hat off for StarDock for taking on this huge and risky project of making a new StarControl game.

Played the original Starcon when i was about 8 and fell in love with those awesome starships straight away. then a few years later was old enough to take on Star Control 2's amazing story and open world like explorative gameplay. I must have got at least 10 full playthroughs of it since (i guess including the awesome ur-quan masters HD remaster.. :)).

as for programming background, i'm a backend engineer with 15 years experience with Java - relational DBs. Not sure how much it can help here but i'll be happy to assist wherever needed.

Greetings Folks, New lifetime founder here. looking forward to all things Star Control.

Would you believe I know NOTHING about the game or original SC1 or 2? Never played either. I have no idea about the lore. I just now that the game will be good.

Hey guys! Played StarCon 1 when it came out and SC2 is my favourite game of all time. My name's Brad, live in the UK (Aussie though). I'm a co-founder of a startup. Digital designer and UX/product guy. Excited to have stumbled across this and can't wait to try it and feed back!

Hi everyone!

Bit the bullet and hopped on board as a founder yesterday, hoping for some sweet, sweet Beta (Alpha?) love.

A bit about me: Star Control I was the first computer game I absolutely, completely fell in love with. I must have been maybe 12 at the time, visiting some family friends during summer vacation, and they had it on their computer. I sat in that little air conditioned den (AC was a luxury for me in those days) for the better part of three days straight, as I remember it, unable to stop playing it, and unable to stop thinking about it when I wasn't. (I even later wound up getting the Sega Genesis port.)

In 8th grade, a guy -- I think his name was Luke -- gave me a bootleg copy of SC2. Somehow he had the Star Map in the ziplock bag...I can't remember if it was a copy, since it's been about 26 years now. It was the first game I ever played for 8 hours straight without noticing how fast the time was zipping by. It was like every time I looked up, an hour had melted off the clock. Before I knew it, it was dark. Although I don't find it quite as much fun to play Ur Quan Masters as I did the original way back when (I have kids, and a career, and limited patience), every time I hear the music it still brings a smile to my face. It became my favorite game of all time all those years ago, and nothing to date has ever taken that spot.

I actually bought SC3, and like everyone else, I hated it. (I still would play it again just to try to remember why). And since then, I've been waiting for this game. Every year or so I would check the Internet looking for some hope that someone was making something. I did my annual check again recently, and found this.

Really looking forward to it. Re-downloaded Ur Quan Masters in anticipation. Very sad that the original races won't be here, but I'm hopeful for what's to come.

Hey! I'm Brian, and I'm a founder as of 4/29 (Yesterday, at the time of this post)

I'm a little confused about what founders get access too.  I've skimmed everything currently in the vault, but are there other things founders have access to at this time?

Hey Brian :)

Currently there is not much else going on in terms of data. However, there is some discussion going on in the Skype channel occasionally. A small number of Founders also hold keys and discuss game specifics with the devs on a dedicated Discord channel.

Welcome aboard!
