A big high-five to the Founders so far!

Your feedback and criticisms are extremely helpful to us here.

I imagine many of you watched the No Man's Sky debacle.  I can't help but think they could have avoided all that pain if they had had a Founders Program.

Thanks to you guys we've gotten the lore to a good place.  I've been communicating with Paul Reiche and Fred Ford on some of the feedback we've gotten from you guys and I think it has helped immensely.

For example, setting Star Control 3 in its own universe rather than throwing it out as non-cannon was based on your feedback.  That, in turn, opens the door to the concept that when people start using the mod tools to create their own adventures that each adventure happens in its own universe as part of the Star Control multiverse.

Similarly, your feedback on fonts, UI, etc. is going to be critical.

My main regret so far is not having Super Melee to you guys.  I've been reading your feedback intently on what we have so far.  I have a pretty good idea on what needs to happen.  I will have more news on that in another couple weeks.  We are anxious to get Super Melee out to some of you since we have that part done from a technical point of view (multiplayer and such over the Internet).

We do have the issue of Steam only providing a very limited number of MP testing keys (as in, think hundreds) so we can't just give it out to everyone.

To be honest though, and your amazing feedback changed my mind on this, the story feedback is going to be crucial.  Originally, we were going to hold this back to keep is all a surprise but your ideas and thoughts are frankly, just too valuable not to share more internal stuff with you.

And kept up communication afterward, which you guys do too.

But that's not "done", right? Or has the great debate been settled in the past 2 weeks?

Guess not... Saw your other post.

YOU CAN DO IT, CAMP 2! I BELIEVE IN YOU.

What can I say?

"A smart man learns from his own mistakes. A wise one learns from the mistakes of others" - Some smartass.

Please, in your decision on plot reveal to improve it do not reveal critical points. Or maybe ask questions about them as vaguely as possible. We still want to be surprised and play an unspoiled game. Thank you, very much!!

Melee - first come, first serve? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nice update. Don't sweat the melee, I'm okay with waiting. A delayed game can eventually be good, a bad game is forever bad.

Any discussion with Paul and Fred about participating within the community? I know they're probably just fine making money hand over fist with Skylanders (and are probably hugely busy with it) but I think it would be great for the community and Stardock's social media presence if you had them make an appearance in an interview or some kind of Stardock-sponsored discussion as the game moves toward release. If the community could see Paul and Fred interacting with Stardock in a video or something to that effect, it would build a lot of social capital and be a huge boon to the successful relauch of the franchise.

I think I remember it being mentioned that SC3 was being sidelined as an alternate universe. I'm curious what discussion has occurred about how Star Control lore will be curated going forward. What will be considered one universe versus another if material is being created and contributed by various sources? Or is everybody's content really just going to be its own thing? What if multiple people in a group want to have a common lore and work together in a single cluster? If the platform is being opened up to allow all of these alternate 'verses, I foresee there being some potential confusion between how one lore associates with another lore if they don't all exist in the same storyline and I'm curious to learn more about it.

I'd be fine with hearing about some of the details of the story but would prefer any discussion of sensitive internal stuff to remain as discreet as possible so that plot details aren't spoiled even for founders.

Thanks for your candor.

Hehehe!

;) you guys are too cool!

=D VERY Happy (really happy!) in knowing our feedback is helping!

:) this is great, and we will still going to give more feedback (well... it goes without saying but whatever)

about the melee, there is non-active people in this forum (unfortunately) so i guess we can solve this with the most "active" people? i'm sorry, i just want to think of a solution XD i see people thinking about one all the time but i never wrote one!

and thanks, THANKS for being so communicative, any group of developers can make a founders-program and just trow in some treats and beta images and videos, you guys, talk to us, and show us so much (i really don't know what else to write but you guys get the point)

;) you guys are awesome!

...now back to sleep

I speak for myself on this. It's been great to have valued input on a game. It gives me pride and a small sense of ownership. I look forward to seeing more, expressing my opinions and especially getting to play something in the future. Thanks

It's one of the highlights of my month, each month! I think our appetite for consumption will never be sated. But if we have even a small effect and see our suggestions, no matter how small, implemented in a game we end up loving, I think we'll all be Stardock fans for life! So glad to have this opportunity!

We love giving you the reports each month.

Then, we collect your comments and feedback, print them out and go over them.

And that's why as a Founder I'm super stoked for what Super Melee has in store!

I'm glad star control 3 isn't completely ignored. I remember being one of those that actually enjoyed it (playing it while young probably helped!)

I'm super excited to keep giving feedback now that things seem to really be heating up. It's cool that you think we're useful enough to involve in the story/lore some... I do wonder if there's some way I can avoid spoiling too much for myself though!

Maybe any threads with intense story spoilers can be marked as such?

We enjoy being here.

Perhaps in terms of feedback on the story; you can spoil "Act 1" for us (assuming 5 acts) and we can help polish that early experience to a shiny shine. Then the insights gained from that can inform the remainder of the story.

It's really a catch-22. If Stardock releases spoilers for the whole story and all alien races, with nothing for me to uncover myself... I'll be sad. But I will ABSOLUTELY READ EVERY SINGLE WORD OF IT. I wouldn't be able to help myself!!!!!!!

My mind is strong, but my body is weak :( It's true. I'm a sucker. If they revealed every plot detail, I couldn't just sit back and let you have all the fun, Hunam!

Also, post to the Ten Commandments, Hunam. I know you can add at least three. This is serious.

Hey, that's MY line.

I thought I'd mention: I'm glad that you guys have figured out a way to have "your" story independent of the "Ur-quan Masters" story; but the solution feels just a bit like a cop-out.

Hmm how about the explosion that destroyed the Sa-Matra tore a massive hole in the fabric of space, time, and the 4th wall which not only splintered SC:3 off into a different universe but threw us "The entity at the other side of the 4th wall" back in time to before it all happened to attempt to re-shape the passage of time and hopefully allow us to not raise so many death flags.

"Yes somewhat of a dead pool reference there since he started breaking the 4th wall back in 1991 :)"

But as always, keep up the good work :D

In the current state, if I'm interpreting the situation correctly, The Sa-Matra and any story element related to the original races can't be used or even mentioned, afaik.

The story starts before any alien contact, Pyro. First interstellar ship, something happens, blah blah, humanity meets Tywom and so on.

:) that's why I put in the breaking of the 4th wall, it'd be lore known to us outside of the game & fully unknown by the in game characters, just something like a private joke told between veterans until the glorious day when those from TfB are able to work with Stardock & the remainder of the lore possibly unlocks in game :)

It's the same way as we know about space cows but it won't be mentioned in game.

Oh, they'll be mentioned. I am expecting much derision regarding SC3. Do not disappoint me in this, SD.

Though, Not Star Control Origins calling Not Star Control 3 out is a bit of a hypocrisy...

Cough Cough..

Frogboy glad to be of service.

Mum always said I had good idea's :)

Seriously though having  many minds working collectively always allows for better exchanges of idea's.

Hopefully my posts weren't lost and buried in all the Banter that exist daily.

I really think it's important to have One Release that is great with the integration of expansions and worthwhile DLC added on at a later date.

The player base was pretty annoyed with Stardock about Fallen Enchantress and Sorcerer King.Having improved versions released shorlty after as new paid games.

I don't want to see Star Control released and 5 months later we have the Star Control Intergalactic version because we are told the changes are so vast that it needs to be it's own game.

I still haven't bought the Rivals edition of Sorcer King as it really bugs me that Stardock wants me to buy it again.

So founders we owe it to the many players out there to make Star Control the best it can be.

So if something isn't right say so or to your liking spit it out.No arsse licking please.
