Pinned Post Feedback
I have some feedback regarding having some "key feedback" posts pinned.
(My next post will have the full details.)

DEVS Thanks, you don't owe me a damn thing but a game sometime in the next fiscal year. Message me an email I can submit my feedback to and I will stay off this forum and away from this madness and the all knowing, always right, legendary (in their own mind) game masters that populate this forum. Thanks.
I vote for this option too. If we aren't going to use these forums to have a continual influx of new information from the developers, a monthly Google survey form would suffice.
Otherwise, we are going to sit here for 21 days grinding our gears.
I tried to participate in conversations by offering my opinions and was promptly told I was wrong for my opinions by members of this community.
This is the fourth or fifth time you mentioned this. You must not participate in forums very often. Here. This might help.
And FWIW, I am sorry if it seemed like it was personal when I told you that you were wrong.
You shouldn't patronize him about that. I feel his pain. Probably, you do too.

This is true. Again, I think a lot of this could be avoided with a change in structure. This has been mentioned before, but you'll notice there's considerably less squabbling in the first few days after content is shown, and far more constructive feedback. I'm particularly in favor of more frequent small updates.
I think this would work better than the current system:
Stardock creates a thread with a picture, video, music or whatever and asks a question. We discuss the presented material.
Do it weekly or bi-weekly if super busy. How long can it possibly take to make a post?.. 1 (ONE) post a week or 2 Bi-weekly. Does it make sense?
Everything will be organized from the get go and Stardock will have full control on format of the threads.
And month-end updates aren't even needed.
I understand the need of archiving stuff to keep the track of updates, but how crucial is it and why not just archive the whole discussion thread into PDF later on?..
Ok, but you bring up that bitterness a lot. Part of giving feedback is accepting the fact that people will think you are wrong. It's apparent that you DO care if people criticize your ideas, because you always are quick to remind us that only the dev's opinions matter. You need to take what you are saying to heart. And if I am off-base, consider that this is how I am seeing you present your opinion. (Much like how you think I have an entitlement complex.)
To take this a step further, a Q&A session would be helpful. There are some things that we are asked to give feedback on that it is difficult to do without asking questions to frame the context. The answers don't have to be immediate - they could be delayed an update cycle.

More pinned post feedback...

I always want to hide them. Too bad, like many things with this forum, that the setting to keep the window tab collapsed isn't saved across sessions.
Why do I want to hide them? Having 3478912634782693 sticky messages take up too much space, and I hate having to scroll past them or hide them to get to the good stuff.
“What we wish, we readily believe, and what we ourselves think, we imagine others think also.” - Julius Caesar
Empirical evidence suggests otherwise.
I guess my issue is more that there's too many Pinned threads that the entire top fold is basically pinned threads.
Generally I've seen Steam forums address this by creating the 'landing' forum page be the stickies, then the 'main' forum has like 1-2 ultra current/relevant stickies. Thta's obviously a bit harder here though.
Oh God, what have I done?
I didn't mean to make you think that I wanted a way to get rid of the hiding control for the pinned posts. I wanted a way to get rid of the pinned posts themselves.
Now there is no hope. At 100% zoom on a 1080 display, I see 13 pinned posts with no way to hide them. And now that pinned posts are in with unpinned posts, I cannot quickly determine where I should start looking.
^ And they're still unbolded when new replies come in... "I mean, come on, people" - BO 2016
They are so trolling us right now. It's back to normal, and by normal, I mean broke but still segregated.
Do you guys need help in managing the software that these forums run? Are you ready to switch to Reddit? /r/StarControlOrigins is all yours. Just say the word, and I will give a SD employee mod access.
I really don't understand why are people complaining here at all, of course opinions on the game an such but... weird
stardock is being very honest and nice here to deserve that
but you just don't get into the "fight"
i love being here so far, and i am a proud founder!
;D keep up the good work guys!
(but the emoticon icon IS still broken XD)
We're working on the forums update, and had to revert back to the old format for the time being.
If you don't complain about something, you don't get anything fixed. Don't think that I am not appreciative that SD is working on the issues.
The new fade effect is nice. Can it be applied to all UV blue bars?
Thank you for restoring the section dividers.
Why do the +/- buttons to collapse the section dividers not retain their setting on page refresh?
And new replies to pinned posts aren't being highlighted still. ![]()
EDIT: And are you aware of these new edit post buttons that do nothing?

It's just a habit for some it seems. ![]()
What else am I supposed to do here between vault updates?
EDIT: And also, do you not want me to post about the bugs or usability issues that I am finding in the forum?

It's not that SD don't want it, it's just that, the opinions seems very angry and harsh, sometimes it's hard to differentiate between constructive criticism to just hateful ones (not saying that you did this though, i know people have done this here but i never pay attention to the username or profile pic)
i like all of you

Constructive and useful feedback is encouraged. The purposeful "complaining" is not really helpful.
I realize that my post about pixelated art was posted in a grumpy tone. And sure, I regret posting it before I had my coffee.
On the other hand, I also know that someone's going to be thinking about that post when the next update is put together tomorrow or this weekend. So I will take the ill will I generated with a smile if it delivers a better set of update images. Bad publicity is still publicity.
Edit: But going forward, I will moderate my tone.

The problem is that we are getting complaints that the forums are not "friendly" and people are not comfortable giving their opinions or feedback because they don't want to have any problems with other members.
That is not going to be tolerated any longer.
And I'm not addressing this at you, just agreeing with you about the harsh posts.
Haha, I admit that I slowed down on posting and kind of stay out of threads sometimes because it just seems a little overwhelming to get into. Not that I feel like I'm worried about getting attacked or anything like that (I've got a thick skin lol) just that it feels tiring trying to read some of the longer/angrier rants.
I want to give good (and often critical!) feedback, but am starting to feel a little old for anything that feels close to a flame war haha
