The sad thing was that my name got rejected. "MUSHROOM STATE" was not a violation of any rule.

But that is a good name. It took some thought. It took some spellchecking, too, which we all appreciate. I wish they'd allow punctuation, though. "SAMUEL'S REST" would look much better.

You don't need to explain yourself, or defend yourself! Your name is just fine. The forums get a little mean-spirited toward the end of the month. I like the name! It sounds like LSC96 is its astronomical designation like Rigel-32SA. 

I think the BEST names are the names that mean something to the person, and leave their mark in the world, even if it's not overtly clear to the general public. I doubt Voxipuxitoxtex is incredibly meaningful so the person who suggested it (though, correct me if I'm wrong, please). Same goes with Archimedes - I'm sorry, are you intimately familiar with the old Greek mathematician (among other jobs)? Did his teaching touch you in a very intimate way? Are you a huge fan of geometrical theorems? Is Calculus 2A class where you met your wife? IF so, then I approve of the name. If you just thought it was kind of a cool name, then I count you in the same group as white guys who get tribal tattoos or chinese characters on your arm. Devoid of meaning and uncreative.

Hunam, your reasoning for including Amelia in the good list - is poor and misguided. However, I'm betting the person who submitted it has a much better reason to include the name! Name of his wife, daughter, mom, dog, first love, first crush, grandmother...? Whatever it is, I bet it's got a stellar reason behind it.

And hahaha, thanks sooo much Hunam, for including me at the bottom there! You punk!!!! I saw that, mister!!!!!!!! Doesn't so much matter what you think, though, does it? I get my retarded, mistakenly translated online handle (which actually sounds to me like a legitimate star name) and the initials of my wife, son, and two daughters forever immortalized in what's sure to be the best game of all time. Hey, not everybody can be president, or Brangelina, or Ernest Hemingway okay?!?! We all gotta leave our mark!

And I'd pick a mark filled with personal meaning over, you know.... something made up or impersonal, like.... uh... picking a name at random from the list... Somehow you missed Saqavdert, Hunam... Sack-of-dirt? Who has a personal relationship with a sack of dirt? How did no one choose that as one of the bad ones?

And I'm sorry, did someone not get the memo? THERE ALREADY IS A SARANSK, MORDOVIA. It's in the Republic of Mordovia! In a city called Saransk! Here on earth! Already! 

Or... FloppinChacho? Probably breaking the terms of service. Chacho is just short for "muchacho"... so what exactly is "floppin'" about him?????

I'm pretty sure this was revealed in my other post already. Only thing I'm not happy about, is that there was no room for spaces and capitalization. By the reactions some people seem to be having towards the name, all the more reason to leave it be.

Besides, it's a much better planet name than 1RXS J160929.1-210524, for instance
