Special Request: No Fun

The original Star Control - despite its lack of adventure story mode - was chock full of hilarity.  Does anyone remember the game menu?  When you'd highlight the "Quit" button the corresponding icon was "NO FUN".. like the no smoking sign with FUN in the middle.  Anyway, I think including little things like that in the reboot would make a nice trip down memory lane.

Any others people remember and would like to see again?

There are so many little details in the original - I think it is the sum of these that make the game timeless

Surprisingly I enjoyed the very first Star Control.

Being that I love strategy.    It was like a mini short   Galactic Civilization game.  (Sins of Solar Empire-ish)

Deciding where to mine. Fortify. Colonize.  Build ships and fight!

I know this team is currently working only on the Star Control 2 like aspect of the game.

But if there is room somewhere to make a Star Control 1 like game somehow that would just be sweet!

Considering that StarDock now owns the Star Control IP  and also publishes and develops games like Galactic Civ and Sins of a Solar Empire, it wouldn't be much of a stretch for them to produce a separate title of this genre.

Probably one of the reasons I was happy to hear that StarDocks bought the IP from Atari since they make strategy based games.

I remember playing SC1, I was like 10, my dad beat me 12 times in a row before I adapted and then I owned him.  I'd get to CHOOSE who won from there on out, I'd throw a game if he had a bad day or I'd take him if I felt like it.  I also kinda missed the galactic chess they called the "FULL GAME".   I forgot about the NO FUN sign, and I find I've forgotten a lot about the full game like the pupose of colonies and I think forts just slowed the enemy down.   I need to play that game again sometime soon.

Yea fortify was to slow them down.   Colonies were like your replenish crew after battles.   The  mines increase your credits or whatever resource it was to buy more ships.  Otherwise your main base I think gave u some credits per turn but if u needed to build faster you need to find mines and expand.   Was alot of fun.  Also exploring the map for back doors or connecting nodes.  Since some of the nodes don't connect  but u see them there.   And hope it connects to something as a path to the other base.

Ah, ok, <forehead slap> a colony's purpose seems so obvious now.   I really haven't played it in a long time...
