Maybe a Critter Contest?

Before anyone says a thing, i know i sound like a kid asking for this, i know that even a little bit of change can, well, change the original concept

But sometime ago i was thinking:

"Why don't we (the founders) send or post drawings of critters?, if they can't (or won't) add them to the game, it's good to see concept (and fun too) of people's ideas!"

Critters is a part of the game, but not as big as the, well, BIGGER parts of the game (sorry for being so vague, but i think you can understand me) so having extra critters would be no problem (That's what i said about being a kid asking for their drawings on the fridge, i know it takes a lot of work to make critters as well as ships and etc, but it's just a silly little idea)


What you guys think? i don't know how to make Frogboy or Vaelzad see this, so i will just have to be lucky.

Well I read all the forum posts and try to make sure I read the forums at least once a day. 

While the idea is a good one there are legal issues with using anything that is created by non-employees of Stardock. We would have to commission individuals for their artwork. We have a very talented group of artists who have been concepting critters in the world recently and we plan on sharing more of them in the upcoming months.

and in my opinion, of course the artwork done by you guys is better than mine, i'm still a student! (not saying you said anything about someone being better)

it is good to know this, i did not even thought of the commission thing, well then, shame! but still, this does not change much, just wanted to give a opinion in the forums (i was being quite stale here...)

oh! and i think with mods we can do our own way and share it with you guys, without the legal ramifications! right?

i can't wait for more alien designs, i am itching to draw them all! (and i'll post them here for fun)

Yep, it doesn't have to do with the quality of the art, it's there to protect you as an artist and us as a company. Just think of how it would suck for your art to be used but then you never got paid for the work you did and didn't get officially credited. From our side, imagine if we used it and then you wanted money for it after the fact because it was such a hit. It really is a no win - no win situation. 

BUT...  this is where the modding and our support towards it comes in. You guys can create whatever you would like by modding and put your name to it. It allows you full creative freedom and the recognition. We also have some plans in the works to further help bring some spotlight to your work. Can't say any more than that right now.
