1.8 Mercenaries Game hangs (Torians, insane map, sandbox)

I play an insane map sandbox game as the Torians at the moment (1.8 Mercenaries). In the current turn whenever focus switches to the fleet "Torian Fleet 43721" the game hangs and cannot be recovered (I waited as much as 15 minutes). It doesn't react to mouse and keyboard input anymore and must eventually be killed via Task Manager.

I'll piggy back on this issue.  

I've experienced the same issue.  Was playing a game several hundred turns in on an insane map with no mods but custom races from Steamworks.  Within a few dozen turns of loading the game post-hotfix yesterday it would hang any time I tried to clear any heavily defended precursor anomaly.  

Thinking it was just a lost cause because it was a 1.8 game and not a 1.8-hotfix game, I tried a new game. 

This game hung 17 turns in as the focus came back to me.  The turn indicator stopped at "Starting new turn".  Completely frozen game.  This was insane with ~35 races including some of the Steamworks ones.  

I cleared out all Steamworks content and started another insane game with just races created through the in game UI.  This game also froze at 17 turns.  

I created a ticket and attached both save games for the 17 turn games.

piggying too.  same issue during torian's turn, on a large map, about halfway through the game.  tried it with different save files and always happens.

We just updated the patch that addressed  a stuck turn.

Didn't try any new patch yet, but to clarify: I played purely vanilla, no Steam content, no mods whatsoever. I had all other vanilla races as opponents, but no more. It happened on my notebook (that is more powerful than my desktop pc with the exception of the processor I think) where I play only official updates, opt-in isn't activated there.

Thanks for the additional information.  The problem we fixed was not specific to a specific faction or mods.  However, if you still get the problem, please restart steam and verify your files to make sure that you've gotten the update.

Galaxy is different -- you will need to download the latest version of the game available from Galaxy.  What version are you playing?

Have it set to autoupdate.  Installed shows English, 1.80 (hotfix) and that link shows "Patch 1.80 hotfix (22nd June 2016)"  The second hotfix doesn't seem to be available.

Ok so the opt-in builds aren't available on GOG.  The good news is that we pushed the opt-in to live yesterday.  So you should be getting the update soon on GOG.
