Kindle Oasis impressions

Got a Kindle Oasis.

I won’t bore you with a full on review because there’s a ton of reviews that basically say it’s wonderful but too expensive.

It is a lot more expensive than the other Kindles but the screen is noticeably better thanks to having a more consistent series of lights and it is also noticeably lighter.

If you do a lot of reading on the Kindle and you’re not price sensitive, get it.

Was this a new purchase or did you already have a kindle that wasn't broke and worked just fine?

I've had a lot of Kindles.  I had the Kindle Voyage but left it out in the rain. :(  But I did have a Kindle Paperwhite too.

I guess if my paperwhite went toes up I'd consider something better but so far it has been a useful and dependable device.

I remain quite happy with the Paperwhite.

Terry has 2 Kindles...one of which is one of the biggies [with an absurdly small keyboard....lousy for poor eyesight]... probably generation one and 2.... and the Oasis is something like 8th generation.

She's gonna wait a few more generations...as features need to get trickier to justify the change.

Curiously, her eyesight is such that she uses the largest font available...or maybe a few dozen words per 'page-turn' which means they need to be recharged every night....not days/weeks like 'normal people'...;)

The 'big one'... A Second Gen 'DX'....with the crappy keyboard...these things weren't a touch-screen.

I have to say, I really didn't mind the non-touch screen version. It was great just being able to grab the thing just about any old way and not have it turn a page. It was a lot easier to avoid buttons than touching the screen at all.

Not that I dislike the touch screen version, just that one thing was sort of a positive. The other changes that came along with the move to touch screen still make those newer models much better.
