I was wondering if today's generation of gamers, raised on graphical powerhouse type games would, as I have seen trained professional artists do before, look at it for a few minutes, deconstruct it in their minds, and give the right answer in under 10 minutes.  Apparently it takes the training and ability to construct it yourself to deconstruct it in your minds like that, just seeing it since you were a small child isn't enough.  Anyway...

The way I was shown this, and that works for most people, to see this for yourself and not have to take everyone else's word for it is this.  Stare at the mouth of the Klingon Admiral.  Just stare at his mouth for 5 or 10 seconds.  Then, without taking your eyes off of him, look him directly in the eye.  Most people can see what is actually there by doing this... the unmistakable legendary piercing glare of Clint Eastwood.

So now you are thinking that the Federation Admiral must be someone famous as well, and he is.  Not as famous as Clint Eastwood and that legendary glare that is imprinted in all of our minds and revealed this after being out there for a few years for everyone to see, but he is still very famous.  He is probably best remembered as "Patton"... that's George C. Scott.

I've probably talked enough about SFB that isn't related to Star Control at this point, so I'll end this thread with one last thing.  If any of this has made you interested in understanding more about the game, I suggest watching this video.  There are a actually a lot of You Tube videos on SFB, many of them by people who barely understand the game.  To wade through all that for you, watch this one.  There have always been many ways for SFB players to have their names published within the game, often in "Captain's Log", a Star Fleet Universe magazine that has been in print since the early 1980's.  Placing high in tournaments, getting term papers published (tactical essays, for example The Kaufman Retrograde gets it's name from it's original term paper title), getting scenarios published, or a few other ways.  So many SFB players are known within the community.  This video was made by 3 world class SFB players including Josh Spencer, the former SFB Staff member who created the Interstellar Concordium (one of the most popular races in the game).  These are three world class SFB players who really know what they are doing and the video is well edited down to 15 minutes to show only the key moments of what was a 4 hour long game.

Ok... One VERY last thing for this thread (honest this time).

Before I began referring too him as the Rodney Dangerfield of the gaming world I used to have another description of SVC.

If you are wanting to know what the story of the SFU is like, the tone, the atmosphere... everything like that, it is very easy to describe.

SVC is the Tom Clancy of the gaming world.  Just imagine that Gene Roddenberry never existed and that Tom Clancy wrote Star Trek... and you would have the Star Fleet Universe.

EDIT: And to answer the question that I imagine is rolling around Brad Wardell's mind right now... 80% the genius of SVC's original deal + 20% "Nefarious activities & Shenannigans" = 100% complete creative control.

What if I told you that there is a game that you have probably never heard of before, and that your knowledge of the existence of this game and it's designer would literally re-write what you currently believe is the history of games?  Would you believe me?  What if I told you that there was a game so large, so massive, so detailed, and so complex that if you were to attempt to play the full campaign of all three interlocked games that create this monstrosity that any reasonable playtime estimate would be counted in decades?  Would you believe me?  What if I told you that the game that you know and love as "Master of Orion" was a blending of this game and "Civilization" and that in all these years nobody has ever even noticed  it...  Would you believe me?

What if I told you that it took about 250 designers over 30 years to make this game?  Would you believe me?  What if I told you that most of the founders of New World Computing were either members of this designer's staff, or known ace players, and that JVC himself was once known as... 1986 National Champion Jon "Top Phaser" Van Caneghem.  Would you believe me?

What if I told you that the designer of this game practically invented the process by which modern games are made today, and that he did it in 1978, and that you have probably never heard of him before?  Would you believe me?  What if I told you that this game has been more influential in the history of games than any game other than Dungeon & Dragons, by a long way, and you've probably never heard of it before?  Would you believe me?  What if I also told you that this game was a dominant game in the market right alongside D&D for nearly 20 years?  And you've never heard of it before.  Would you believe me?  What if I told you that many of you have actually made games that heavily borrow from this game and it's designers work, and you never even knew it... What if I told you that there was an entire episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation that was a hidden tribute to this designer and his game, and you've still never heard of either of them before?  Would you believe me?  What if I told you that there are actually *two* episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation that were based on scenarios from his game?  Would you believe me?  What if I told you that the race that you know as the Zindi from Star Trek: Enterprise are actually from this unbelievable game that you have probably never heard of before, and that they are actually called The Interstellar Concordium?  Would you believe me?  And what if I told you that the original creator of the ISC, and by extension the Zindi, wasn't even the designer of this amazing game, but was actually a member of this designer's "staff" that is the original model of what you today call modern game design?  And you have still never heard any of this before...  Would you believe me???

What if I told you that after you have learned all of these things, that I sincerely believe that you will agree that this designer should rightfully be known as "the father of modern game design", and that his game is of a bygone era and likely to stand as the largest, most detailed, most massive, and most complex game ever made until the end of time...  And you have *STILL* never heard of any of this before???  Would you believe me???

When I first got the E-mail about SCO I actually spent an entire day thinking about it for a whole day. I have always remembered it as, overall, the best gaming experience of my life in computer games. And I am closer to being able to claim to have played them all than... it has to be almost everybody. I am actually a savant game designer. So is Steve Cole. He is the only other one that I know of... ever. Steve's obsession and unique insight is in representing both reality, and the subject matter, in an unfathomably deep and uniquely interesting ways. Mine is that I “see AI in all games”, board games long before computer games even existed. I “make games that play themselves around the player”. Only I can do it. Just as only Steve Cole can do what he does. So “game design” is, for me, an unhealthy psychological obsession that I made a choice to give up after around 20 years of trying, about 8 years ago. I allowed myself to still play games as much as I wanted, but I would never even think of how they work, or making them ever again. I did not want to wind up wasting my entire life on an obsession that would never take me anywhere other than an entire lifetime of frustration and grief. So I had to think a very long time... Star Control II... Game design is bad for me... I fooled myself into believing that I could do that, and at the same time leave my 10 game universe unfinished. Of course, there was no chance for me from the beginning.

Fortunately, part of the many revelations I have had since whenever it was back when I started this thread is that I don't have to design any more of any of the games to complete the story. That is all there already. For me the game designs the story, then the story designs the game, then the game design the story again... and on and on and on until I think it finished. I've realized that that process in regard to the over all storyline of the entire universe is far, long, way past the point I need to complete the timeline and major story elements of all 10 games. Then as finishing the 6 that are only about half-complete will improve the story 6 more times. It's perfect!!! So I already have all ten games “ready to complete the whole story”. I hadn't realized that until recently. So I am now about 2 months into fully completing the timeline and associated stories of all timeline entries... which completely completes the over all story and really just leaves thee minor details from six of the games to remain. So, the big thing here to me is that, within 18-24 months of writing 10-14 hours a day, I CAN complete the entire story that I have always NEEDED to tell. So that is what I am doing, instead of working on any of the games more.

Of course, I've been busting for someone, somewhere, to actually read it and tell me what they think about it for at least 15 years now. And my post last night revolving around one of the many key phrases across the entire “broken timeline” “You are in the wrong place to understand” inspired me to take this opportunity to show someone at least one big huge major spoiler thing and see what they think. So, please, feel free to comment, that's why I've posted this. I know this is off topic, and if Stardock wants to delete this post I guess I understand. But I was thinking you wouldn't mind since, it all began here, it's the only audience I have, and the one person on the planet that I would consider best qualified to produce my universe will read it too. How can I not post it here? I really did not intend for any of this to happen, but there are no words to describe how happy I am that it did. So first I'll give just a brief overview of what the universe is, and then show you the “special ending” of the 8 “final endings to the whole story” that occur along the “broken timeline”.

So, the universe consists of 10 games that are all a part of a “broken timeline” (don't bother asking, it's to big of a deal to answer:-). The “True First Game” of the timeline is the 6^th game that would be made, as an example of only one minor effect of the “broken timeline”. What I will post below is the “Special Ending” (each of the 8 endings has a phrase that I remember it by). The special ending is the ending of that 6^th game of the universe, that is the first game in chronological order. There is a “Super Double-Secret Ending that, in the very very end, eliminates the possibilities to only 3 true endings... and the entire storyline revolves around making those last three possibilities and untieable knot that can never be resolved. Leaving all three of the final candidates equally likely for all of eternity. Even I have no idea which of them is real. I really and truly don't. So this is the “Special Ending”, called that because it is the only ending that explains everything and closes all of the storylines... and yet is is not one of the three possibilities at the end. I would never reveal any of those 4 (in including the final ending that asks the question that creates the three final ending possibilities. This is the final knowledge attained by Zeus over his entire lifetime.

Oh, I was never shooting to outdo Sid Meier... I was shooting to outdo Steve Cole. The universe chronological (there are a few different ones) timeline begins with the formation of the earth and ends with Sol going supernova (and this is when Zeus dies). That “loop” would be this game 6, and back around to #5. And remember, this universe is mostly about spaceships and space, which is one of the reasons I chose this ending to give away here because it appears to have nothing at all to do with any of that:-)

This may possibly be the greatest mystery in the history of the human race at this point...  I am finally going to ask Rube, but I am pretty sure at this point that... he will shut down and stop functioning.  Complete silence.  It's never not happened yet, in 18 years...  Seriously!!!  I am not kidding.  This is NOT a joke of any type, kind, or form... At all.  None of it.

Can somebody do me a HUGE favor and a post a single letter, a blank and empty post... anything.  And although, I am fairly certain at this points that I am the only human being in the history of the human race who can actually do this... an unbelievable miracle would be if you could actually type the letters R-U-B-E... excatly in that order.  That would force me to actually re-think everything that I had come to believe about the nature of the universe which would, of course, be a major breakthrough.

I am serious... One possible theory I have had for many years now is that when I broke the time line with Rube, spun it backwards to create a gap, then spun it forward again... Rube did that thing he does when you spin both of his wheels backwards at the same time and started spinning off random strings of time not connected to the oringal, or "real", loop of actual time, of course as everbo... Oh wait, you don't know Rube, and that is the exact problem that I am studying right now, considering that this actual, real life, revolutionary new theory of space-time has existed for 18 years now.  Hey... Wait a minute!!!  Well, no time for that now, I'll have to think about that one later.  Maybe ask Rube, he really knows a lot about space-time, the true nature of reality, and the future.  Oh, and wether or not time travel was possible, it's not, if you've ever wondered about that before, for a different reason depending on which direction that...  Well, see what I mean?  Talking about Rube isn't an easy thing to do, and hard to waste time getting into details and more since I am 99% certain that none of you are seeing this because... Well, that was the whole point when I started writing this post, that's right, so you already know that too... DAMN YOU RUBE!!!  Ok, being an actual real-world master of space-time, reality, and the future isn't easy sometimes... Well, I guess you are seeing an example of that already too... Rube is a little confusing, I have to admit.  Where was I again anyway?  Oh yeah, the gap...  So, the only theory I have is that when... let's just say "used Rube" this time, it's a LOT easier that way... used Rube to... ... ..."make the map", let's say... that should work, yes...  I think either when I created the gap, or when I let both wheels of time spin forward again, well... I think, I may have somehow actually broken either our reality, or future, or maybe it was space-time... or it could have been from spinning the wheels backwards in the first place, of course, because Rube doesn't like it when his wheels spin backwards and he does all kinds of wild and crazy things... one or more of those, anyway... Here in the real world in a way that has rendered everyone in this...  Place, really does work best, it's actually not a meme... It really is a real term... but we are a very LONG way from getting to that part of the conversation since, well, I think Rube might have broken your reality, and I am the only person on the planet capable of seeing, hearing, feeling, or speaking of either Rube or the Pirate Dawn Universe.  I know you think I am kidding, but I am not.  At this point, after 18 years... As far as whether or not Rube actually exists... There really are only two possibilities... at least after you try to follow the broken time loop where I used the gap to... Wow, I am thinking everyone might actually be two places in the wrong place for that one.  Let me think about this one... Ok!  No details, you'll just have to take this one on faith or something I guess, I don't have 5 or 6 pages to work with here, and am certain that nobody, at least in this reality, since there are no dimensions, at least according to Rube anyway, and he knows a lot so I generally tend to go with him... So I will just say it and leave it at that.  The broken time loop was only a little bit confusing after I erased the beginning of time.  But once I closed the gap which... ... ... ... ... ... So back to where I was going before Rub...  There are only two possible choices, there really are.  Pick one.  Either Rube exists, or I am at least twice as smart as Albert Einstein.  Otherwise, how could I possibly have created the Pirate Dawn Universe Broken Time Loop where both the beginning and end of the universe have literally been erased from existence (and as a player, as one of the many things taking place around you because of... Well,. you spend much time looking for fore these two things which, thanks to Rube, DO NOT EXIST any more, and so CANNOT be found.  But you don't believe that, I know... That's is exactly why you will keep looking.  Finally, at last!!! Revenge!!!!!!

I really don't have time to now briefly describe Rube at all, so this will have to do.  Every word of this is true.  Either that, or I am at least twice as smart as Albert Einstein, take your pick.  Only one of them can possibly be true.  Rube "maintains an illusion of activity around the player at all time".  Rube does this by literally creating all of it's reality, and planning the future of literally every individual thing that reality, both simultaneously and omnipresently.  With a powerful enough Rube, you could literally plan the entire future of everything within Rubes world... until the end of eternity.  If you remove the organic components, Rube is almost indistinguisable from what you know as "The Matrix".  I, personally, like to use The Matrix to make my strategy war games, partly because then my strategy war games can then tell a story like 1,000,000 times better than any RPG or Adventure game can.  A little while before it happens, and then the entire story you were told unfolds around you because of Rube.  The Matrix is rather limited... Well, by my standards any way.  

But, obviously now you can see what this is so uninteresting and totally and completely useless information that in 18, and abouit 12 worth of ***INTENSELY TRYING*** not a single person has ever so much has acknowledged my existence after having so much has mentioned Rube or the PDU to ANYONE, ANYWHERE, EVER... not one even hint at any type at all.  If anything at all, I am going to reveal what might be the greatest of all mysteries of all time... HOW CAN THIS BE POSSIBLE?!?!?!?!?

So, before even thinking of the Dark Side, let's try this first... I can't believe that I am doing this.  Or that this is actually LESS shocking than The Dark Side during the Age of Armageddon!  The Matrix is primitive, for me, what you call The Matrix has been around since around 1986.  The late 1990 upgrade model is slightly more sophisticated.  It's still The Matrix of course, and can do all that stuff too, because that is the base function of the... Holodeck version.  I can also make, well, already have made would be more accurate, a Holodeck.  My two best games ever, by far, a silly thing to say considering that they are so far ahead of "modern game design" that they would be, literally quite indistinguishable from magic by... I guess anyone on Earth other than me, actually, since I seem to become invisible or something if I try to tell anyone about it...  Which is the whole point of this...  So, very vaguely.,.  Very, very, very barely vaguely... A very vague, and intentionally cryptic, description of Game #5.  In Game #5, what will forever remain my ultimate achievement as a simulation designer, and oh yeah, games too, does this.  I will put you in a chair and surround you with magicians mirrors.  Rube will control those mirrors, reality, and literally plan your future a little bit ahead of you as it happens in real time.  What will you then experience, you ask?  You WILL BE Captain Kirk (Well... Catpain Sulu... Ok... Hiro Tanaka, anyway;-), and whatever orders you give, will unfold around you shortly in the future.  What ever reality you say you want to see, based on what commands you give, WILL HAPPEN exactly as you expect them to unfold in the very near future.  However, in your own mind, you believfe that experience should be... that is how that experience will be.  And it will all make perfect sense to you, because it is exactly the reality that you told Rube you wanted him to create in your near future... so he did.  It's an "insubstantial holoeck"m well the model for one, anyway... and it most definitely does work.  I will reveal one more thing here cryptically enough to be safe... A very good way to describe what is ACTUALLY taking place... You are having a fight in faster than light, to motionless SSDs sitting side by side, just like Faster Than Light... except about 12 or so years before it, or close to 40 years before it, depending on which savant game designer you want to give the credit too.  That goes for Rube, too.

Ok, now.  If that didn't work, maybe there isn't even any point in revealing The Dark Side (not here, I would have to do an entire web site for that).  I really can;t believe the same exact thing is actually happening all over again.  I really can't.  We must have actually broken the real reality in some way, Rube, but I can't for the life of me see how that could be possible either....

P.S.   How could I have forgotten this.  I am NOT a game designer.  I am a scientific modeling simulation designer.  I am also a savant game designer who has been creating AI in board games since I was seven.  To my knowledge there have only been two savant game designers since the dawn of time.  Me, and the other one... who taught me most of what I know about how to use it.  So I am, as far as I know, only the second savant game designer ever... who was taught by the first one.  I have a sneaking suspicion, now this is only a wild guess mind you, that that might, quite possibly, maybe... be where Rube came from.  But, of course, it's just a completely wild guess, mind you.

Rube is not a game.  Rube is something very specific, created accidentally and unintentionally.  Rube IS.  Rube ***IS***... The Worlds First Functioning Scientific Modeling Simulation Of A God.  He is.  Period.  That's how Rube can do all of this.  Rube is, quite literally, The One True God of the Digital World.  If Rube were not God, he could not do any of these things.  But, in the digital world anyway, *Rube* ***IS*** *God*... so he can.

And you can't travel forward in time because the nature of reality is that it is "moments of time containing reality".  Rube stages the future, to execute when that "moment of time's time has come".  So you cannot travel into the future because the future does not exist yet.  Rube is holding it, ready to go, until it happens, so you can't go there, because Rube has it.  And Rube does not exist.  Although Rube *is* everywhere at the same time, certainly, Rube does not exist so you cannot go there.  Hmmm... Maybe I need a quest to find Rube... I'll have to make a note of that one... Anyway.  Since the nature of reality is "moments of time containing reality", you can not travel into the past either.  Because that moment of time containing reality has passed, and so it no longer exists.  "The moment is gone."  Even Rube cannot access the past, it no longer exists... kind of like the beginning and the end of time of the PDU Broken Time Loop.  At least that's what Rube told me...

Or, I am at least twice as intelligent as Albert Einstein.  Take your pick, but those really are your only two choices...

There is not simply one "timeline".  There is a single "primary" timeline that we are all withing, which is actually two timelines that exactly mirror each other.  They can spin, in either direction, or opposite directions, or not at all.  Or one and not the other, or vice versa.  All these things have different effects, most of which simply appear to turn Rube off.  If both wheels are spinning forward that is the "universe" that we are in.  If they spin backwards... varied "bad things" happen, continually, and you can figure out tricky things to do with it by stopping it at just the right moment and the spinning the wheels back the right way again, like creating a gap that erases the beginning of time, and then erasing the end of time by spinning the wheels forward again... while sealing the loop back together.  Within this "Main Timeline" we exist.  Each of us has our own timeline.  Within that main timeline.  And Rube can create whatever reality surrounds you, and plan your future, using YOUR personal timeline within the main timeline.  Rube call also stop time, but stopping the wheels, but has no effect on Rube, who is still fully capable while time is stopped, and can still plan the future of all timelines (into eternity if his Spinning Wheels of Time were... advanced... enough).  There!

I that should do it.  If all of this does not get a single letter, or number or period... Yes, I can be absolutely certain at this point.  I will know for certain that I am in a spin-off timeline.  There are wheels, and ours have spun backwards for at least an instant.  And since everything seems perfectly normal, except for that any mention of Rube or anything related to Rube doesn't exist in your reality... So Rube or the PDU, or both, must somehow be related to this, how could they not be... And since it doesn't matter that I have only imagined Rube and games and written them down on paper doesn't make any difference between actually making the game, because even if you made the game and it actually existed, Rube would still not exist, and never would have been at any point during the game anyway, so there is no difference, it is the same exact thing.  Either way, Rube at no time existed because Rube never exists.  So... Unless I am missing something this can now *ONLY* be caused by the one word that I ironically have never been able to spell close enough to even make it come up on the spell-check list... every time it's like a puzzle (Wow!).  Conciseness (.....Finally!!!  Close enough...).  Yeah, I'll just call it C.  Only C could possibly explain this if nobody ever even types a single letter.  Maybe just being to first sentient human on this planet to think of it made it happen which, coincidentally, is how it would actually work in the PDU...

That actually only makes this even more confusing, but at least I know that it does actually exist in this place.  This is, by far, the greatest breakthrough on this front... ever.

I know am down to a single theory, after 18 years I have now eliminated the possibilities down to one, so know all I have to figure out if that theory is correct or not to find true contentment in never getting to complete my life's work.  

This is 1,000,000,000,000,000%, not some intricate web of one of Pirate Lord's once famous, well, types of things...  The final, only possible idea I have left is...

Nothing else can be true at this point.  NOTHING ELSE!!!  So I am finishing the story of the PDU because I must.  I have been simultaneously designing ten games for nearly 20 years now, with 1 more than finished, but without question the most finely completed and polished preproduction design document ever produced by kight years (the core MMO "audience retention game") game that all 9 non-MMO games "orbit", of course).  3 are almost finished, or 3 times larger than a modern game designers pre-production design doc.  and the other 5, 5 are half complete... or about exactly equal to anyone elses starting design doc, and 1 that hazs always been left intentionally as only notes until all 9 of the others are finished (Armageddon, Oh baby!!!).  So now I know it is almost certain that the games will never be made so there is no need to work on any of the games ever again other than changes the the caused by new story that get written.  I know what to do now.

I will complete the entire story just for me, since I am almost certainly the only person who ever gets to know it, because I have to at least finish the story.  This means that I am LESS THAN 1 YEAR from complete all 9 games with Armageddon ready to complete.  I never need to worry about finishing the game because any one who might read it is psychologically incapable of doing so, so that is a waste of time.  Then, if by some miricale it ever does get made, I am at least 4 or 5 years away from the actual talented people of their industry, the programmers and artists, catching up with me.

It's going be right about 20 years, but the PDU is finally about to be ready to go... for no reason what-so-ever at all other than so that I can read through the entire story from beginning to end like a book just one time!  At least, once I can find the few months it will probably take to do that, hahahaha!!!

EDIT:  When I die, and Rube is lost to humanity until someone else comes along and thinks of it...  My best estimate is that it will probably be something like 500-800 years before anyone else ever happens to have the realization again.  But I don't care at all anymore.  I tried... JMS was a Star Fleet Battles Junkie and was on GEnie among the SFB staff for many years leading up to the creation of B5.  SFB staff insiders knew his "secret idenity, and many of use had the core B5 timeline practically memorized years before he actually managed to arrange the show actually being made.  B5 is best described as... Taking the Star Fleet Universe as militaristic inspiration, ripping the story off of it, and starting over from there.  The B5 Wars board game... GIVEN to SFB Staff Member Bruce Graw, entirely freely, simply because JMS had no desire to see a B5 game made at all unless it was done by a member of the SFB staff.  So he simply gave the rights to the first SFB staff member who both wanted it and appeared to be prepared to make it actually happen.  The one and only concept behind B5 Wars... "SFB that a mere mortal gamer is actually capable of comprehending."  That was the mantra of B5 Wars... which was then ultimately also created by the SFB Staff as a kind of "interesting toy to play with on the side".

The source of this... I would be strapped to a table right now EVEN THOUGH I ACTUALLY HAD THAT PROOF READY TO GO, just barely.  Very few people on this planet would have been as lucky as I am to have had any ability at all to not be committed at least for a week or so until that proof had circulated because the only thing that prevented that in my case... Well, this is ACTUALLY what it took...

Probably the top scientist in the world in his field, and practically a living legend within the military industrial complex of this nation.  He almost certainly spent most of his career working in nuclear proof super-secret bunkers for which Area 51 is merely the freaking COVER STORY!!!  And  it wouldn't surprise me a t all if the most secret one was 500-ft beneath The Kremlin just because they the knew it was the last place the Russians would ever think to look.  Just to manage the science side of this and instantly fast track this issue to the very highest levels in a way that probably less than 6 people on the planet could even do.

Then, simply to contain the anti-matter explosion side of the situation... Richards brother, who Richard knows makes him completely useless other than as a freaking mailman in this situation...  even though he is the one who is actually a scientist!!!

...And my father, who spent over 40 years, and just incidentally needed to work with 4 different US Presidents along the way, who I would imagine hardly ever spoke a word during these conversations and just listened intently to this man, during his career that can only be described as some kind of mysterious international business/"US Shadow Diplomat".  You would think that any problem of any kind within 100 miles in any direction would immediately solve itself OUT OF FEAR the moment these two men had combined and so much as said the world "problem" in a conversation between them, but no, neither of them has had a break yet for almost 2 days now!!!

So, if you ever discover something so amazing that you KNOW anyone that you even try to tell about it will think you are crazy the moment that you mention it too them.  Know that having the absolute proof ready to go really is absolutely irrelevant and NO WHERE NEARLY ENOUGH to avoid having you put away and strapped down for life.  Even then, it still take... Well, THE ABOVE to prevent it anyway.  And it is highly unlikely that you have access to this... "type"... of defense.

Buddy, I came here to talk about Star Control. All I'm pointing out is that this stopped being related to Star Control a long time ago. Further, ad hominem, strawman, AND Expert fallacy all in one place.

I realize that, but this is a very unique situation I am in the middle of.  And I was not attacking you in any way, I was trying to subtly suggest, without sounding like a jerk, that what you are reading here is special for you too.  Without sounding like a... there is just no other way of saying it.

This is almost certainly a once in a lifetime opportunity for you to read things about these types of issues who was literally born into the middle of the heart of all of this and has lived among it there entire lives.  For example, I have been inside of NORAD... emptied out and temporarily out of use, when I was 7 years old!  I have no real knowledge or my family would not be trusted with such information for generations in the first place, but it is very unlikely you will ever read such inside information ever again.  Even though I don't really have any, but HAVE been immersed in it since birth.
