Start10 breaking Windows updates?

Tech tells me that Windows updates are "stuck" due to Start10 interference

Howdy:

Dell XPS 13 laptop running Windows 10. Installed Start10. Recently noticed Windows Updates were "stuck" at a certain percentage. Laptop was examined by the tech that takes care of school laptops. Later told me that the problem was Start10 and to please not install software like that on the system. How could Start10 be interfering with Windows updates? (Don't want to give up this little gem of a program.)

Unlikely. We have no other reports of similar and Start10 has no influence on OS update installation.

Would he be one of those techs who doesn't like anyone doing something without his permission?

I've probably installed Start8/Start10 on 100+ different computers, and I have yet to see a single instance where it "broke" Windows Update.

That being said, Windows Update is a notoriously fragile thing, which can easily get trashed by any number of factors. Start10 is not one of them.

I agree with Neil: this is probably a case of "cranky tech support guy".
