A dream of mine

Would it pretty please be possible to have binary star systems? No, I'm not talking about star systems made up of 1's and 0's :-)

Like in the real world? You could have fun with orbits and gravity, and it would be outlandish.  For one, I'm a bit tired of always having the "Single star - X planets" trope.

Translation: "Yes, please."

Edit: And I would want other star systems and features as well. Black holes, pulsars, etc.

The pulsar could cause damage if you get too close.  Another cool terrain feature might be something that emits a regular gravity pulse so it is like the opposite of a gravity well and flings you away if you are near it when it pulses.

Agreed!  That would be awesome!  Fighting in a two-star gravity well would be fun, and binary systems are extremely common in real life, which would add more realism to the map you're making. :)

That would be on e hell of a system. I wonder if you could actually have a habitable zone with a binary system. I would think it would be a great area for mining and the base of some primordial soup.
