Daily Challenge Replays

Maybe an idea to post the Replays from everyones pov here. So you can see what others do different and adapt accordingly. It can be a Youtube Video or a Replay file. Let me start with the Daily Challenge game of 23-10-2015 which won the challenge. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzZiuN8uSGfPSEtFUjNjTEtHMms/view

Sounds fun. Attached is the one I posted where I did the polar opposite strategy you did. I had no debt vs. your D rating. I went for pleasure domes and a balanced economy vs. your OW rush and hacker array. Your time crushed mine (5 hours faster), but i think it's fair to say your AI opponents were even stupider than mine :) Regardless, I think it's nice to see that so many strategies are becoming viable, indicating the current game state is approacing balance.

the 8p dailies seem to be a lot quicker than the 2p and 4p ones.

no bugs sighted, and fast time set.

Good old fashioned OW rush for the Saturday 2v2 challenge beats the nearest time by 9 hours (Day 6 17:20 for me). 1 thing that was interesting was my decision to use the sole adrenaline boost I won for from an auction on some water tiles instead of the offworld. The offworld price nerf is a welcome change.

Sunday 10/25 Challenge:

Fastest time set (Day 6, 10:50) by robbing my AI partner blind. He's still on HQ1 when I get to HQ5 on day 3. This is the last time I'll ever do a daily challenge with an AI partner. It seems the optimal way to play these things is to treat your partner as nothing more than an extra power plant, aluminum mine and iron mine.

Now that I have the Recording set. I can and Will do every day the daily Challenge from now on and post them on my Youtube Channel. I will give the Top 5 times in the description for every challenge.

European Time scale with the date

My general approach to the 12/16 challenge. If you watch the video, you'll probably understand why I don't try to record things more often (besides the awful Steam noises).

The new buyout rules definitely make AIs much more of a threat to knock you out if you're debt diving.

What makes it harder, exactly?

That you start with 3 stocks :P

It's harder to debt dive in the sense that you're now forced to defend yourself if you want to do that. Under the old system, you would need all 9 available shares to be bought, then for one AI to pay double price for the last share, which just wouldn't happen in time.

Now, because of the AI's tendency to attack players with low stock prices, if you debt dive and don't defend yourself, you're vulnerable to several AIs buying into you and getting the majority buy. For this daily, for example, I let the AIs get 5 shares in me (at which point there are several of them at 100% on me) before I'm forced to sell out of my short early to buy one AI up to defend myself. Defending myself would be trivial, given that two stocks would be cheap to buy, but in pushing the limits for a good time, you generally don't want to spend money on anything but making money. So while I happily tried to win every relevant auction on debt-diving dailies under the old system, I'll mostly avoid auctions now.

I get the feeling the AI isn't handling reveal map quite correctly.

I think I'm on to something in terms of beating the AI

I have to say, for how much Soren loves Scientific, it's really surprising how badly scientific AI functions (and had functioned before) on maps with little iron. I think that's the main reason shenanigans worked this game, AI was just sitting there waiting to be killed.

P.S.

Beat that time, Blues.

You really need to issue these challenges when there's actually time for me to get around to trying again :P

That said, it's interesting to see that you can manipulate AI founding times somewhat, as that's a trick I wouldn't have thought to try after the fix went in from when things were very obviously broken. I can't figure out a good way to beat your score from today either, so I'm clearly going to have to step my game up at some point.

EDIT: Got pretty close to beating Yerand's time today, but I'm not sure I have it in me to grind it out. Tried to do a few things in this one, which I talk about in the video description. As is the case for most of my Offworld strategy, nothing I list is something I came up with myself, heh.

Well, I had been lucky to catch the last hour of that daily... which may or may not have been the reason of issuing the challenge ;). Here's another one, I was afraid to do similar debt-diving at first, knowing it's an 8-man... but AI doesn't seem to be able to punish you as long as you can keep up with the upgrades (Cook the Books is also a huge thing in this one).

I don't really know if it's that much of an issue though, cause the only time when founding in D-rating range is a good idea is in Daily Challenges when you're trying to beat other peoples' time

Btw, can you actually watch replays of other peoples' DCs? There's that pretty eye symbol that doesn't really do anything.

the daily replay replayer isn't working yet. It soon will, I think. Soren was working on it earlier in the week or so.

Should be ready by Beta 10.
