No direction in playing

No direction in playing

I played the game for hours, but found that i don't  get a ida what ships are gonne be build, possible with the research
The menu's of the ships are one long list and the same for the building on the planets..no filtering
No help for the possible building goals on a planet
The research tree is a endless tree to choose from and i get no direction there what i am after for ..sayfor example  building a assualt ship

It feels all ..aimless with the sparsemanimenu and also the shipdesigner is minimal as it seems
A userunfriendly experience.. iam hoping that it will be improved in the future updates

Makes that i am not forelooking to play again a new game...a poor experience

He's gotten 6 colony ships by turn 6.  Regardless of the map size, as long as there's habitable planets nearby THIS IS THE MOST OPTIMUM CHOICE.

That's actually the most important point.  The 30 colonies by turn 30 is more map dependent.  But getting 6 colony ships by turn 6 IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO WINNING THE GAME ON MOST MAPS.

And we all know that the most important thing to being heard is writing IN ALL CAPS.

Most maps is not enough.. this strategy must be followed on all maps.
Colonising 4 lifesupport aera for colonisers..then building constructors to get economic starbases for the income, then researching militairy and colonisiong further with tiny hulls colonisers to save money.

Quoting marigoldran,

Did I write in all caps?

USUALLY

But you've got to admit, it can help get the point across, doesn't it?

I can admit, that the occasional use of Bold, Caps, Italics, or Underline can be helpful to express additional tone or emotion in a post. By occasional, I mean its special use, so that it stands out.

For example, when I used singular, and in italics, the aim is for the reader to voice that word in their head, longer than normal. To hesitate and contemplate on its usage.

However, whole lines in Caps or other styles, conveys either negative emotions, or nothing (typically). There is no rarity, so there is no additional meaning. And in this particular thread, if it is all sincere, then there is a language barrier involved.

And in that case, lines in all caps comes off like a English speaking homeowner saying the same thing louder and louder to their non-English speaking domestic worker, as if that does anything other than stress out both parties. Caps in particular is usually associated with volume or anger.

Its at best fruitless, and at worst derogatory and trite.

PFFFFFFFFFT.

If it's fruitless, then so what? I spend a minute amount of electricity and energy hitting the caps key for a neutral result.  No loss anywhere except perhaps a minor increase in entropy in the universe WHICH EVERYONE CONTRIBUTES TO ANYWAYS THROUGH METABOLISM.

If you find it derogatory or trite then I reckon YOU'RE the one with ISSUES.  I mean, isn't there BETTER things to gripe about than the OCCASIONAL use of CAPS?

I mean, why not instead spend your time making sure DONALD TRUMP doesn't BECOME THE PRESIDENT OF AMERICA? ISN'T THAT A MORE NOBLE GOAL?

Oh no worries. I have plenty of issues. But I try to remain productive.

You keep trying to help janhardo, so it looks like you value success. Hence why you should care that your use of caps is ineffective/fruitless.

He's likely another troll, but if on the off chance he is real, the he seems to have a language issue , and well, caps isn't going to help him.

To write with caps is something what normally is not necessary, because writing with normal letters has the same meaning..strength.
I have never used caps in teaching someone..because it is unprofessional.
I admit that marigold makes a bit of a mess from his instructions for his strategy to follow for others and there is another person in this thread also complaining about this.

Teaching is not a strong  point of marigold, but that is not so easy i f you don't have a background in it.
So if marigold thinks that caps writing will help in teaching..very sparse use!
I try to learn a strategy from someone here on this forum, but some persons here on the forum have difficulties with that and became unfriendly and others are friendly.

Just remember that the main point of the game, any game really, is to have fun. If you are having fun you are playing it "correctly". Regardless of your strategy, the lack of it, or your definition of fun.

Nothing wrong in picking up tips for winning strategies, of course. Do keep in mind, though, that there are many ways to play this game and many definitions of what "winning" actually means for different people and it may vary from time to time.

Even if a strategy is a sure "win-all-beat-all" it can get boring. :)

I'm an excellent chess teacher.  My philosophy is to beat them repeatedly until either

1.  They become strong or...

2.  They give up in despair and learn that they lack the talent to play chess, thereby saving them a lot of time for other activities.

It's great.

Lecturing, for the most part, is pointless.  The key is to BEAT THEM REPEATEDLY AT CHESS OVER AND OVER AGAIN, WITHOUT MERCY OR KINDNESS and then laugh (secretly) at their pathetic-ness until they have a strong desire to strangle you.  Either they'll give up at it and become a wiser person or if they have talent they'll feel a strong motivation to return the favor, thereby making them better chess players.

When I explain something, I make sure to only explain ONE TENTH of what I know.  Explaining any more is pointless because if they can't figure it out from there it means they lack the critical thinking skills such that explaining anything more is pointless.

Honestly spoken.. i don't care if marigoldran uses CAPS here on this forum ..it is not that important here on this forum..it is blown up the importance here.
Have fun with playing is the keypoint ofcourse

I played a huge map with random planets and got 18 planets in 30 turns ..not bad..the moment that i got a incoming unreadable message from a race ..and later on i saw a ship..then it is time to start with the constructors  ( hoping having enough time ?)
It s trial and error..something you cannot say from chess.

side note... when I read "I'm an excellent chess teacher.  My philosophy is to beat them repeatedly until either"

For a second I thought I read "I'm an excellent class teacher.  My philosophy is to beat them repeatedly until either"

Which was pretty hilarious.

You've hit surprisingly close to the mark.  For the same reason I am an AWFUL class teacher.

The way of the Sith is good for tutoring one-on-one, but bad for teaching an entire class.

Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.

Someone wrote that crazy Sith nonsense in a book I got from the library once, every page had a note about some psychopathic phrase and thr preface had the sith code. Guess the art of war was a book every aspiring sith needs to get. I would so slap the shut out of the person that did that. Lol

It depends a lot on your starting position.

Also, they've changed things with the recent patch so that it's no longer that easy to fit colony modules onto tiny hulls.  So take that as you will.

Well, yeah, I think it's sort of silly too.  Personally I like the Reapers more.  That whole doctrine of sneak attacks combined with overwhelming force and power is appealing.  More pragmatic and less angsty.  Would have worked if it wasn't for Commander Shephard and that gang of meddling kids.

But that video is awesome.

In all of the games we've played, there's a destined hero to save the world (or the universe).  But what if the hero dies? What happens then?

I would like to play a game that explores the consequences of that.

You start the game as a hero, but somewhere in the middle of the game the hero dies (killed by random Bandit Marauder in Skyrim for example, or Normandy gets hit by an errant missile and explodes with everyone on it).

Then you have to play the rest of the game as a former minor character who gets to discover what the universe has become when the hero is no longer there.

Well i  never play multiplayer games, because i am not that good in a particular game(s)
The same for chess... there is no drive for me to go study this really deeper to try to become good in it
