Singlular units

I have a multi part question to do with singular units,

some units start off with a single figure, others get three and I have managed to "dominate" four figure bandit leaders. is it actually possible to get a one figure unit upgraded to a four figure unit?  it greatly increases the health and damage output by adding a multiplier and I havent been able to upgrade a unit that far yet,

the second part of my question is would it acceptable to have a late game building that allows you to manually merge two units into say a 6 stack, so instead of getting two archer units for example, you could use some mana or whatever to make it a single six stack... im only putting this forward as in all the games i managed to play when i first introduced archers into my army they would get one shot by what ever caster i was facing as they get focused straight away and early to mid game without items i have found them to be completely useless.

Even if it was just lower tier buildable troops it was available for, Im not saying we should have 6 stacks of every unit (6 stack dragons / mages and mounted troops seems a little excessive) it would be nice to have the ability to make the lower tier troops seem relivant when you have an army of monsterously badass killing machines.

I have only got like 16 hours play so far so i may just be using them incorrectly or havent learned all the tricks, but its a little bit tedious trying to level up an archer for 6-7 battles for him to get one shot by an enemy caster.

1- No, you can not do this now in the game.   But you can use things like the ring of life enchant it to +4 life (or more XD ) and give it to a 3 person unit, it gives you the benifet for each individual > +12HP for a 3 member unit

2-  very interesting idea but would require new art for each type affected and art is expensive.  Also could be very over powered, but there are lots of ways the dev's could balance it

3-  Welcome to the world of SK.  There are many tricks to learn and picking the right battles to level up units is one of them ;) .    Equipping new low level units with good armor helps big time.

Agree with OP... if you focus your quest reward on recruiting units, then you would stuck with a large # of meatbags that you file in the city... making them completely pointless.

2- We already have 6 people infantry unit/4 people calvary unit from FE, perhaps the Dev can recycle those resource.  Paladin, as they mount dragons, it make sense to pair them up in 2`s to help balance the multiplier.  Cleric can use a 4-person group to buff their health.

3- Dodge (fog buff against missile attack) and Death Ward also helps :P
