Your First Impressions...

I thought we could have a thread to post some first impressions.

I have only played for just about an hour so far. Fist problem I had was that the mantle version doesn't work for myself and gives an unsupported hardware error, it may be because I an using a 280x which as far as I know is based upon older hardware (7970).

Even on the DX11 mode the game runs better than I expected, the things that seem to really impact FPS seems to be units clashing (expected) and zooming out when you have the sensor 'grid' active. The units and effects look pretty nice overall, a lot of stuff going on at once. Sometimes the UI can be a bit unresponsive for example when boxing units sometimes there is a delay for the 'box' to start.

Overall I am pretty impressed, will certainly need more time to give more detailed impressions but the game is at least working on my PC so far.

Wait, middle mouse is supposed to control angle as well as rotation? Because it never has for me.

Yes, it controls zoom, angle, and rotation.  I'm not at my home PC now, but as I recall pressing the ALT key down while holding down the middle mouse button lets you move the camera along the y-axis relative to the unit or meta-unit you have selected.  This lets you get some pretty epic perspectives when you have multiple arty units firing away.

Holding the middle mouse button down without pressing the ALT key moves you around the x-axis relative to the unit or meta-unit you have selected.

Okay, I never tried the ALT+MMB, will give that a try, thanks!

My bad -- it's "Shift"+MMB; not ALT+MMB.

Compared to the SupCom and PA alpha/beta this alpha is a technology masterpiece! Fast loading times and stable framerate. (40-50 fps, i7 920, 770GTX, 16Gb, Windows 7)

The interface feels sluggish, and it's difficult to see if units has accepted a command. I would recommend pinning the build bar, and select nearest factory/engineer when clicking on something.
