Applications Not Found

I've reinstalled windows several times since I've purchased Start8 and within weeks (sometimes days) it starts to not list applications I have installed when searched for, for example:

I click on the start menu and see the game "GalCiv2".

However, if I hit the windows key and type "GalCiv2" nothing it displayed.

This happens with numerous but seemingly random programs, even including the calculator once. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling and removing all registry entries in between and the problem persists.

Let me know what you need to narrow down the issue. Considering you're working on Start10 (which I personally find hilarious) I'd definitely like to resolve this issue.

Note: this does not happen with the default start screen or other alternatives on Windows 8.1 64-bit.

Are you installing anything at about the time it stops working?

We use the results returned by the Windows Indexing service, so it suggests this is no longer returning us the full results.  There is a setting to disable the use of this in the Start8Tweak app and fall back to just looking at names on the disk.  Does this solve the problem?

Also are the search results completely blank, or does it show any text saying nothing found, or any other results at all?

The fact it continues after wiping the registry certainly points to something external to Start8 happening which breaks something and a guess would be something installing a shell extension which is messing up the results, or something that gets installed which is causing Start8 to abort the search when it finds it in the results.

I would certainly contact [email protected] so they can gather more information as this is not normal behaviour for Start8.

Thanks for the quick response. I reinstalled Windows this morning (unrelated to this issue) and when the problem pops up I'll contact support after trying the Start8Tweak you mentioned. I'll also keep track of what I install.
