Custom leader FG pics

I've been trying for a couple hours to insert a new leader pic into the game. I have it in the right folder, and the game somewhat acknowledges it's there, but when I try to load it, it's showing a blank image in game.

It's a PNG, background is transparent, and it's 1980x1020....

Any ideas?

Post the image by Imgur or something and I'll try my luck.

The only issue I've run into for custom artwork is that if two files in different folders have the same name but are different (Portrait and FG are named the same filename) then one will get overwritten.

I got the image to load, finally...

But I need to look at a different image manipulation program. I was just using paint, then an online file utility to make the background transparent, but it didn't do that, it appears to have made it black.

Out of curiosity, what do you use to manipulate images?

This is what I had when I posted this morning

This is using something called LunaPics. It's still not easily able to get into the fine detail areas in close to her.

I'll look into Gimp

....

Should I post the original pic?

Sometimes you don't need a background at all for pictures. With the one Starchaser posted I certainly wouldn't bother deleting the surrounding picture, it just looks... off. Also I suggest using Paint.Net for it. It's a neat program.

the game uses FG and BG for several places. now I can see what is going on. in order to use it on the startupscren shot and the report shot you`ll have to srink her down to about 1/3rd tp 2/3rd the size she is now. and move her to the right. not all the way to the right but almost. leave her back ground Transparent.

and try that I can help some too but if you do the work you`ll understand better.

BTW I use gimp some.

Should I post the original pic? It would help if I do any work with it.

Gimp is really very easy to do this type off thing in. It looks daunting at first but it's easy enough to use once you get used to it and can do so much more, it's worth learning to use.

I really have no attachment to that particular pic. I just grabbed the first SFW image that was 1920x1080 in my art library to use as a test piece.

I am going to try out GIMP, and see how I like it. I went back to playing, to de-stress:)
