Multiplayer crashes during load

Started a new post since apparently the issue that 99% of people are having is not what the OP of previous thread is experiencing.

Deleted all custom ships

Deleted all custom races

Now uninstalled and deleted all content as per instructions on website, will be done reinstalling soon and try again.

Tried again after reinstalling.  Made a MP game with just myself and 2 ai's.  Crashed during load, custom ship designs (of which I have none).

If you've gone through the troubleshooting steps, please submit a support ticket with the requested files so we can look into this.

Try getting all players to turn off Steam Cloud and delete contents of %user%\My Documents\My Games\GalCiv3.  This worked when our games crashed on load.  Suspect it was early version data that caused issues.

Yeah in the troubleshooting instructions it says to reinstall and delete two folders, one of which is that one.

...but if you don't also disable Steam Cloud it just loads all of the broken stuff back in again when you start the game.

You can clear out your Steam Cloud content but it is a faff; search within Steam forums, it's in there.

Turning off steam cloud then deleting my games directory fixed the issue.

Stardock would do well to include step-by-step instructions somewhere for people to clear out their Cloud data because I know of at least three other people who this problem affects when trying to start a MP game.  Better still, find out what's broken about an individual's Cloud data and stop it from being created in the first instance.

It could be cloud data from the betas...
