cannot disable charms

I have used Start 8 pretty much since Windows 8 came out, and absolutely love it! In particular the turning off of the accursed charms bar!

However, I recently installed it on a different laptop with a fresh install of Windows 8.1, and although I have the setting enabled to disable the charms bar it is not working. I still get the stupid charms bar appearing.

Any thoughts?

Your touchpad drivers probably have a setting which causes it to appear when you swipe on the trackpad itself. This can usually be disabled from the mouse settings.
