I cant believe they are releasing it so soon!

I cant believe they are releasing it so soon!

When I found out that Galactic 3 is releasing as a final product so soon, I  became very concerned. Its such a great game but i feel it is really unfinished at this point. so many things aren't quite up to par in my opinion. I would be very sad if it is just chucked out the door at this point.

First off. I still don't see an option to turn of the pre-built ship designs and as of the last update i cant even delete my own designs. I dislike all the clutter and would really like to disable that feature. Also please bring back the ability to delete my own ship designs.

Second. Ever since the that invasion screen came out I have really felt it was lazy and bland, nothing seems animated and its really boring. I was hoping for something cool like a bunch of cut-scenes of invading troop. somewhat like in Galactic Civ 2 before all the DLC's, but instead its even worse than the one that is currently still in Galactic Giv 2. Please do something more entertaining than that. I was really hoping and expecting for something cinematic like displayed on short video when you launch the game.

Also i would like to see something to aid fleet management. with such large worlds there is a big need for many fleet which eventually turns into a logistical nightmare, not remembering what fleet is where doing what. also upgrading ships. maybe this is in i don't know quite yet but can you upgrade all ships of one type yet? if not can you implement that in? and also the ability to disband all ships of a chosen type.

I'm sure there are quite a few other issues i just can't think of right now. But these are my major concerns. What do all you guys think?

Guess Im just old fashioned but at release I kind of expect all the core of the game to be there. Don't mind if they say 'no espionage' or 'no space princesses this time' or whatever but an in game help system and feature complete AI for us single player nubs I kinda expected. Not that I hold Stardock above other devs or anything. I expected the same from Civ:BE and got a stinky AI/diplomacy system that is barely there, Total War also has the same issues ;) .

er, what  core feature do you think 1.0 GalCiv III is going to be missing? The AI will certainly be feature complete. It'll be feature complete in beta 6.

As for in game help system, I am afraid I don't know what you're looking for. There will be an in game tutorial.

I think we are all just getting ansy as all we have to go on is 5.3. Just get us 6.0 soon and we can all be reassured:)

Like many, I got a knee jerk worry reaction when I heard that the game is going to released soon. But then I read that beta 6 is coming out soon. Hopefully that version would be good enough for release by then.

Anyways, I'm hoping for changes that will reduce the amount of micro management this game needs. There have been times when it has been too much and I stop playing for a few days (or longer) because I don't want to deal with it. I find that there is plenty of that with starbases (you have to install every module and order every constructor) and with planets (you have to place every improvement).

Patience my young padawans our Beta Master Frogboy will come through and with what was discussed on the last dev stream I bet half of you will be blown away after you've downloaded beta 6 and start playing it

I hate to say it , but I will anyway.   I am one of those on whom the game will not run.  All I do is start a new game, click on a ship,  and it dumps me right out.  I have submitted tickets, and done all the troubleshooting tips.  This reminds me a little too much of the release of the magic game.  For me, it is unplayable at this time.

Whats the state of the game in 6.1? How good is the AI?

Unfortunately for me, I'm starting to get the same bugs in 6.1 +add-in 1 which haunted me in the beta 5's. Way deep into the game (turns +/- 400) and the game keeps hanging on the battle viewer screen, so I have no other option but to kill it in the task manager. With a good chance of it going well the next time after reloading the auto-save, but again stopping at the next battle I want to view.

Played many turns over the weekend with Beta 6.1 on Gifted AI difficulty. I played Altarian. All the default races on a large, tight clustered map. Everything else default settings.

On the initial rush to colonize, did better than many of the AIs. Two or 3 equaled me on grabbing planets.

On the initial rush to build starbases on resources, did better than all of the AI.

All of the AI build up their planets very poorly. They are totally inept in this area.

Initially they didn't do bad on researching. AI free research bonus? In the later game, I seem to be out researching all of them. Can't judge this very well. They might be tech trading. I certainly did frequent tech trading.

AI diplomacy stuff seems OK. Since I'm out in front of them all. They all ask for a tech for free. They also try to bribe me into declaring a war against an enemy of theirs. The Tech trades I conducted were balanced or in their favor. The AI hardly ever initiated a tech trade and when they did, it was always on very poor terms for me.

Very near the start, I killed off a nearby AIs colony ship. Never made peace with this AI during the whole game. Ship movement by this AI was OK? It was never a threat but if it had resources to build up a fleet of good ships...

To summarize, currently the GalCiv 3 AI seems better than what exists in most 4x games. However, it is crippled by not knowing what to do with its planets.

For those that are having issues with crashing or freezing please create support tickets so Stardock can resolve the issue...

For support where examining saves is required, names of ships, planets and starbases, etc, are extremely helpful in their attempts to reproduce the issue.
