[Suggestion] Diplomancy - Go to war should not be the first option in the diplo menu.

As the title says, the war option should not be the first in the list. That should take you to the trade screen. I keep tripping over this every time I try diplomancy.

I agree with this suggestion, I've declared war on many races that I didn't intend to.  Either move it to a different option, or add a screen that asks if you're sure you want to declare war so that way you're not declaring war on someone when you're really looking to trade.

I agree. I love my neighbors. I really do. But "DECLARE WAR" jumps into my face everytime I do diplomacy. Please move it as an option to the trade screen, and start with the trade screen immedeately when starting up Diplomacy. And then, if you want to declare war, add another pop-up that asks if you are sure.

Perhaps have "Declare War" at the top of the list for Malevolent only?

I'm Benevolent; please stop begging me not to hurt you.

Particularly when we've been allies for 300 turns.

I asked for this way back in beta 2 or 3.  Very annoying

I remember that post, however, obviously they are busy frying other fish at the moment :P  Hopefully they can get to this soon, maybe bring it up in a dev stream if you watch them or I'll try to remember.

I hope they add the ability to cycle through shipyards - that is necessary IMHO

+1 to that. it's a bugger when you declare war by mistake. Apparently the Altarians are no more ready to sit and laugh about such a mistake then the Drengin.

frying other fish

<_<   I think i used the fish fry excuse to defend SD in the past myself.

And concur this is a small (but annoying) thing compared to other issues.

Great game, getting better & better with each release

Do people really just click the first option on the screen without looking and end up having accidental wars?

When your quickly communicating with many races, you are clicking quickly on the let's trade option, unfortunately when moving the mouse over it sometimes you don't move the mouse far enough and causes the declare war option being clicked... :( That's why I'm a fan of it being moved, or having a pop-up box asking if you're sure.

Yes, because almost every game has the first option take you to the trade option. Also, in most UI designs the first option is always positive the last option is always negative.

Really I had no idea there was such a convention, I usual just read the options then click one.

Well that might work for you fancy reading types but for this unedjumacated spacling I need pictures! No but seriously it's more about accidental clicking and not having an "Are you sure?", Which should always be present for selecting war the same as end game. There isn't a written convention but Illauna is correct, many 4x games list positive to negative from top to bottom. I would say all but I'm sure if I did that I would be wrong.

Joking aside I'd agree that an are you sure message box would be a good idea.

What wimps!  Of course War is the first Diplomacy option!

Well, that's what the Drengin told me.  ;)
