Interesting question actually can you package graphics in with a MOD or do they have to go in the base game folders.

If you don't have photoshop,  GIMP is free and also good for creating these sorts of things.

These are just images, so as Bamdorf said, just put them in  my_games/galciv3/factions/logos.

I am graphic designer. I don't imagine making these without masks, folders and clipping etc. ... Even Inkscape or Corel would be better for making these, since they are Vector.

GIMP has masks, true it's not really vector based although you can do some vector stuff, I made some logo's for Elemental using just GIMP, mostly by missing and matching elements of other logos in layers then merging down adding a few filters and saving as PNG. Wasn't really all that hard.

Put yes all sorts of tools you could use, I've used GIMP a fair amount so I find that pretty easy.

The real point was can they be included in the mod folder structure rather than the game folder structure.

I am a little leery of making a lot of custom races atm because we are still in beta buy your pictures will always be in play.   Thanks again.

Thank you so very much for your post! I just wanted to see what size and format the logos should be - and now I can do some of my own... including Star Trek Terran Empire logo, and some variation of my own for the factions I came up with :).

All I need to find out now is what format the BG's, FG's and Portraits should be, and I can create some cool factions, before someone actually creates a real mod :D.

Quoting R3bel02,

Yes, they can.

You just need to include a "Gfx" folder in you mod folder (with the relevant subfolders)
