Problem with latest update on Windows 10

On my previous version of Windows 10 Pro Technical preview DeskScapes worked fine. I got an update last night of Windows 10 Pro this update is build 10041 now and now my desktop is not animated, it will just show it as a regular background of the animated picture, it won't move. I re-installed DeskScapes and everything. Any suggestions or anything you guys know what I can do to make it work? Thank you in advanced.

There has already been several post about windows 10. Technically there is nothing made for windows by SD as of yet. If something works or has worked consider yourself lucky. The fact that it worked on one build and not another should tell us all why SD hasn't released anything for win 10 yet. when things stop changing and get final releases I'm sure if a program can be made to work with win 10 SD will do it and release it.

Be patient. Programs will come when the time is right to modify what is already done for other OS's to work on win 10.

how do you know? if i remember correctly, something similar has been given as a (lame) excuse by Stardock one single time ("we don't start developing before a new os is released"), and then been repeated by forumites (too) often. there also was a time (pre-Windows 8) when Stardock and particularly Frogboy was very proud about having everything ready on the first day a new os got released.

i would guess Stardock is not that different from all other developers and they do work on making their applications compatible with Windows 10 right now. i am sure they also appreciate feedback and bug reports as much as all other developers do (although those should be more detailed than the original post).

Excuse me as I missed Start 10 beta. I should have been more specific about DeskScapes. I don't remember saying anything about Sd not working on updates and I am sure they are. Guess what I'm saying is if a beta is released great. As far as feedback and bug reports I agree. However when a program isn't even release as a beta how is it a bug report to say it doesn't work on an OS that isn't officially released.

I know from your previous post you are very knowledgeable with computers. We aren't all that way and don't always see the things people such as yourself. I didn't give computer advice just said be patient. Thinking about it I should have added when a beta comes out and something doesn't work that's the time to make reports. I will stay away from future post like this as I usually always do anyway and leave it up to the computer people such as yourself. I wasn't trying to start a problem.

Roll your Win 10 update back to the previous version. Did the new build bring anything new that you can't live without until the next build or RTM of Windows 10? If not, and you want DS to work, that is what I suggest.

Obviously Windows 10 is currently in beta and thus unsupported, but in our tests DeskScapes is working just fine.

Which dreams are you trying to use?

Thank you guys. I just wanted to bring this to your guys attention as well so you guys are aware of the issues. It's no big deal I can wait until the next build or the final release. I just wanted to know if anyone had issues as well and have come up with solutions. I appreciate the feedback everyone. As a beta tester for multiple different companies I can understand that they can be tricky sometimes.

I downloaded one that was working before I upgraded to the current build and it was working just fine. Then after I updated to the newest build it stopped working. So, I went into the program and tried other dreams that I have previously downloaded and the same thing kept happening. I download the dreams from the WinCustomize site.

My build 10041 has developed an odd problem (compared to previous builds) whereby playing a mpeg1 stream .mpg file with DeskScapes 8.x will result in the Desktop animating correctly, but an 'ActiveMovie Window' pops up with the same video.  In previous versions of Windows (Win7) this only happened when DeskScapes or appropriate video codecs weren't installed correctly, but on this particular build a fresh install of LAV Filters 0.64 and DeskScapes 8.21 has not solved the problem.  So, just to let you know, not everything is peachy perfect right now.  :)

Could just as easily be this build and go away in the next, though.

That has been happening to me at times. I have some time to mess around with it today. I'm going to try a few things. It's probably just the build but I'm bored until college basketball comes back on tonight so figure why not do this.

Alright just wanted to give you guys an update so if people have the same issues this might help. I re-downloaded LAV Filters 0.64 like tzuyd did once. Then un-installed DeskScapes and then re-installed it.

After that I tried to activate it, I put in my activation key for DeskScapes and said it was activated then it said it wasn't. So I did the 30 day free trial thing.

Anyways, It works now. The background is moving and everything.

Still exhibiting the same behaviour for me in build 100049, fyi.

Annnd after a *fresh* install of of 10071, latest nVidia drivers, DeskScapes 8.21, LAV Filters 0.65 this still happens.  Since this is now a fresh installation I won't report back about future builds unless the problem has gone away.

Please file a bug with Microsoft as it sounds like a Windows 10 problem.

I wouldn't know how/where*.  It's not a problem that affects any other program and I've had this problem with DeskScapes in the past (it's just always been able to be remedied before now).  Any bug report I file will be pretty vague.

*how as in what to say, where as in what section of the Feedback App to file it under

Solved with Deskscapes 8.50, at least with the current retail build (10240).
