South Africa vs New Zealand 2015 Cricket World Cup

I know you Americans don't care about cricket but last night was simply one of the most spectacular sporting events ever!

It had everything, two teams who put everything on the line to proceed to the finals. Mind games, strategy, tactics, the weather reducing the overs to 43. A massive total to chase for the Black Caps. And heros, there were plenty of heros, for the Proteas,  AB de Villiers, Inran Tahir, Dale Steyn, and for the Black caps up stepped Brendan McCullum who smashed 59 off 26 deliveries, and Grant Elliot who brought it home when all seemed to be slipping away.

In the final over it seemed South Africa would defend their total. With two balls remaining, and six runs required, Grant Elliot slugged the ball right into the stand for six. I literally jumped for joy...

It was just such a shame that one team had to lose.

Amazing game...

I wouldn't be counting any chickens yet.... there's a game to go and there's no certain winner.  Given that India has bowled out more sides than any other team in the Cup, and they're completely comfortable with the conditions after being here for months, not to mention that they're in great form, you might not get the result you'd like.  A few commentators are tipping an India vs NZ final, with NZ just getting over the line

Me, well I think it'll be a NZ vs India final with India getting over the line by 6 wickets.

Told ya so.

Comparatively a bit of a rout ...;)

Bloody Indians... lost on purpose cos I had a bet on 'em to win.

Nah, seriously, Australia bowled very well and were the better team on the night.

Still, credit where credit is due, India accounted for themselves very well throughout the series and can hold their heads up despite the loss. They are still a young side in the process of rebuilding and I expect they will produce great things in the future.

So now we're off to Melbourne for the final.  Whatever the result, it will be a great game of cricket

As long as those cricket-tragic-Indians don't lynch their team for losing....

They didn't lose...we won.  There's a difference...;)

Nah, those blokes 'll be heroes when they get back home, win lose or draw.  They came up against a red hot Aussie side last night and struggled against the best bowling attack in World Cricket today.  Nope, they have nothing to be ashamed of.

The difference is Oz gets to play on.....they get to go home. ;)

They need to get home.  The Indian team has been here for nearly 5 months, so it has been a long tour for them and I'm sure they're missing their friends, families and home[s].

So now there's just one game left, the final between New Zealand and Australia.  May the best team on the day win.

Same here.... it'll be a cracker.  Let's just hope it's not decided or influenced by poor umpiring decisions

Run and won.

We're World Champions for the fifth time.

For the Kiwis...maybe next time...as this was just your first final.
