Instant crash to desktop .72

So previously I've never had a CTD...  I've had total lock ups, but never the CTD...

 

After updating the game to .72 I cannot load any saves as it instantly CTD.
I cannot create a game as it CTD as soon as I click ok on the leader pop up and go to the star map.   I cannot even create a new save game to send you a file.

 

I've created several games to test what the cause of the crash is.  It seems I can navigate via the "end Turn" button to the research screen, and the planet screen and build things and select things.    However clicking anything on the starmap causes CTD.   also clicking the III logo to go to the menu creates CTD.

 

Any suggestions?

My first thought is to rename your My Games\Galciv 3 folder, validate the game files in Steam, reboot your computer and start a new game.   Personally, I was able to continue a saved game successfully, but if anything happened I was going to follow this plan, as a start.   Next is that if you are still having problems with a new game, sounds like submitting a ticket (see the instructions in the support forum).    Of course this plan will mean you are not accessing any of your saved stuff, but I try to be philosophical about that as it is a Beta.    But the beauty of renaming your My Games folder is that, for example, if you have ship designs you should be able to copy those over , and so forth.   But I wouldn't worry about that until I get it running again.

The short from would be to just validate the game files --- perhaps the patch didn't take.   You might need to reinstall Galciv3 altogether.   Just some ideas.

Renaming the folder fixed it.

Me too...  pity work got in the way of gaming.       .72 is much faster and lower on system resources.      I love how much work you guys are doing.  Thank you!
