Stardock keeps crashing when i attempt to log in (help me please)

Hello, I recently was given Sins of a solar empire by a trading partner on steam, I've installed it and made an account, as well as activating it.

But when I am brought to the login screen (the bit with the email and password I have to type in) after I type in my details and attempts to log in, it just crashes, it freezes and no matter how many times I try to launch it up again it keeps failing, for no apparent reason either, please help me if you can, I really want to play my game
