Wanna See StarDrive 2 in Action and Talk to its Dev?

StarDrive was abandoned before it was feature-complete. If anyone is looking at buying this, I strongly suggest waiting until the features you want are in the game. That said, owners of StarDrive will be able to buy StarDrive 2 for 33% off. And the features that did make it into StarDrive made it a hell of a fun experience, in my opinion. I don't hesitate to recommend it even today. Just don't believe what the dev says about StarDrive 2, wait until it's in game.

Thats true for every game, really. Don't buy anything based on planned or promised features. I disagree with your wording, however. He kept patching it long after it went gold, so I wouldn't have considered it 'abondoned'. It was the very first effort from a single developer and he just ran in to a lot of snags and issues an publicly said he was moving on. 

Im not sure why people took it so personally. It was a good game and I spent a lot of hours enjoying myself. So what if some originally-planned features didn't make it in? it was still better than A LOT of games out there.

Not including originally planned features is a great reason not to buy the next game before what you want is in. Normally you should be cautious, but in this case it's straight up a dev that broke his commitments so you just shouldn't buy it until the time is right. 

I'm familiar enough with the dev's behaviour and track record to stay far, far way until the final game is out and I hear unequivocal praise for it.
