Window Blinds Made Changes That Will NOT Revert Back To Defaults

Even After Uninstall, Reboot, Theme Change, Etc.

Hello All,

I used Window Blinds to apply a theme to my Win 8.1 Pro computer. I didn't like the theme so I clicked the "default" theme to restore things back to the way they were. The problem is, some things that were modified were not reverted back to the way it looked before applying the theme. One obvious change that persisted was the border around my Windows applications/windows/etc. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like:

And here is what it looks like on another user account on the same machine:

The difference is clear.

I have tried uninstalling Window Blinds, restarting my computer, changing the Windows theme, etc. but nothing gets me back to the original look and feel.

Please tell me how to revert ALL changes made by Window Blinds.

Just did, color changed but not border size.

Did you then use Windows to reapply a theme after you unloaded WB's?. Unloaded, not uninstalled. Re-install WB's if you've not done so, but make NO changes with it at this time.

 Try changing to something else in Personalization then back to default again....  Do this on each account.

That should straighten things out.

Apologies for not reading your entire post first.

BTW, if you made a restore point first, and you really, really should have, did you try rolling back to a pre- theme change restore point?

I finally figured out how to fix it. I re-installed WindowBlinds and selected the "Default" Windows 8 theme again this time paying more attention. I noticed that there were different "themes" or variations which I hadn't noticed before. I selected the "Aero" variation and when I applied the theme it worked.

I will take some responsibility here for not paying much attention the first time, however, as designers of WindowBlinds, the Stardock Developers should realize that when they put a tile in row 1 column 1 that says "Windows Default" most users will assume this is equivalent to doing a "revert". Apparently, it is not, it's just another theme included in WindowBlinds.

As an enhancement I would suggest one or more of the following:

- Automatically backup the users display settings (everything possible) as soon as the apply a theme

- Put a HUGE button or menu on the user interface that says something like "revert all changes" which would then take the users backup file and apply it, just as if it was applying a theme

- Put a bit more warnings and/or messages to inform the user that the actions they are about to take might not be easily reversible

I realize that people should be more careful (I should be too) and use common sense before doing anything like changing core OS components but you have to realize that the standard user will not likely be aware of the need to be careful. They usually place their faith in the program to do the right thing (which is usually the case nowadays).
