Bug with Firefox 33.0 (transparent titlebar, no buttons)

I just updated to Firefox 33.0 and now the titlebar is transparent (I can see a blurry desktop through it) and there are no more close/maximize/minimize buttons.

Tried restarting Firefox with add-ons disabled and the problem persists.

Using WindowBlinds 8.06 on Windows 7 64-Bit Professional.

Edit: kruglovmaxim has posted a clever temporary fix below.

Anything made by Mozilla has problems in Windowblinds, you need to go back to a version that did not have problems, permanently. I went back to Thunderbird 28 for instance and will never upgrade it just to avoid issues.

I'm using firefox28 and have the transparent titlebar as well. I think that is just firefox regardless of version. buttons though, not sure, wish you luck.

I'm using Firefox 29 with no problems....maybe it's this though https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ I Like my tabs where they were as well as a few other things and this works great.

Hmmmm a Stardock BROWSER would be Wowser

Does anyone have Firefox excluded in Windowblinds?  If you do, delete the entry to exclude it while Firefox is closed, then reapply your current WB and then open Firefox back up. Firefox should not be excluded.

I'm sorry, but that's just bad advice. Using an old browser is like giving out an invitation for hackers to compromise your PC. People should never use outdated web browsers. It's like going online without keeping Windows up to date.

Thank you, sir. Prior to this, I was using Firefox 32.0.3 (I believe) and it had no problems. Maybe Firefox 33 reverted something that re-introduced a problem affecting older versions of Firefox?

I actually use Classic Theme Restorer, so I don't think that particular add-on is the answer. But it's also not the cause of the problem, because like I said, the bug happens even when I restart Firefox 33 in safe mod with all add-ons disabled.

Quick follow-up:

1. The bug happens even with a full theme installed (NASA Night Launch).

2. The Minimize/Maximize/Close buttons seem to still work, they close and whatnot, it's just they're invisible.

3. I installed Firefox 32.0.3 from Portable Apps, and it works fine. So this is definitely a problem introduced (re-introduced?) by the Firefox 33 update. Firefox 32.0.3 is unaffected.

Like all versions of F'ingFox  before this one that broke parts of WindowBlinds, I am confident that Neil will work a fix for it into the next update of WB's. Be patient, or roll back your browser version for the time being.

I tip my hat to Mr. Banfield for all he does, and obviously, in regards to FF, redo and redo and redo .. Thank you sir! (and for the record, I don't use that browser, IE serves my needs and WB skins it just fine.) ;)

BTW, the advice to NOT exclude FF in WB config is quite valid. It won't help and may actually make things worse.

Do you have the menu bar visible?

I can confirm I have this problem as well

I also have the problem as of this morning.

Switching to Chrome until this gets sorted out.

Same problem here.  Window Blinds worked fine up through Firefox version 32.  But after upgrade to version 33, the Minimize/Maximize/Close buttons are now missing.  Reverting to an earlier version of Firefox is not an option.  I will probably have to cease using Window Blinds, which I paid for and was enjoying immensely.  Sure hope a fix is introduced soon.

Ha, I just upgraded to FF 33 and have the same issues with transparent bar and buttons at the top. Was up to date before and it was fine until the swith to 33. After that I found I was running WB 8.05 and updated that as well with no change.

On FF I use FT Deep Dark theme and changing it to default theme makes no difference.

I'd say wait for stardock to fix this hopefully and thanks.

There is a temporary workaround of it.

You have to enable a window title by  press (Open menu) button / Customize /Press (Title Bar) button.

It will enable correct window title with all buttons. But tabs will still transparent. This also can be fixed by applying any of firefox themes.

That was a great fix! Thank you! :D :digichet:

Sumatra pdf viewer also has the same problematic skinning with WB.

Wow I have never seen so many people so upset about this. It happens every couple of firefox builds. Neil will fix it if he can in the next up date.

Lets keep in mind this firefox update has only been out for a few days.

Why post at all if you have nothing to contribute? I simply added that it is not only Firefox that is being improperly skinned by WB, but also a pdf viewer called Sumatra. I would think that Stardock would appreciate the feedback so that they know what to fix.

Adobe reader X is the same, won't skin at all. Then there's ITunes and/or several MS products that don't entirely skin. I have aviator excluded as well for some reason.

There is already a thread for compatibility issues. https://forums.wincustomize.com/415220/page/7/#3494007  This thread is for a rather specific , recurring problem with Firefox. ;)

That's exactly what I was getting ready to tell them to do. Create several toolbars or check the "menu bar" that helps also. ^_^
