A Sky Full of Stars

Album: Ghost Stories

Year:

Chris Martin is smitten with his new love in the  enchanting  “A Sky Full of Stars.”

An idealist piano opens the single, setting a picturesque tone.  He watches as she puts her coat on and brushes away some of her shoulders. His eyes soften and glisten. He could stare at her all day. One glance at her and all the stress he has felt evaporates. (“Cause you're a sky/Cause you're a sky full of stars/I'm going to give you my heart/Cause you're a sky/Cause you're a sky full of stars/And cause you light up the path.”)

In the chorus, she can snap at him and ruin him slowly over the years. These moments with her are too special to let go. (“I don't care/Go on and tear me apart/I don't care if you do/Cause in a sky/Cause in a sky full of stars/I think I saw you.”)

The euphoric synths sail to the clouds.

He wants wrap himself up in her embrace. Her hand glides across his face and he closes his eyes. The world seems to have stopped. He is at peace. (“Cause you're a sky/Cause you're a sky full of stars/I want to die in your arms/Cause you get lighter/The more it gets dark/I'm going to give you my heart.”)

The chorus is is sung again.

The euphoric synths sail to the clouds again.

In the final section, he says she’s beautiful – inside and out – that leaves him mesmerized. (“Cause you're a sky/Cause you're a sky full of stars/Such a heavenly view/You're such a heavenly view.”)

Martin’s fond vocals are hopelessly head over heels, waiting to burst out song in the middle of the day while at the gas station. He’s sensitive, vulnerable and overflowing with emotions. It’s a love rock star crushes are made of and a surefire coined pick-up line.

The dulcet  “A Sky Full of Stars” is the hero in the romance novels come alive.
