Delirious (Boneless)

Album: Neon Future I

Year: 2013

Kid Ink is too high and drunk to comprehend what’s going on in the  perfunctory “Delirious (Boneless).”

A pressing synth opens the single, setting a urgent tone. Kid Ink says his friend’s weed is awesome. He knows the exact amount to put in the cigarette. He suggests they go out to the club and stop goofing around. He wants to know if his friend’s friend (who is a girl) is interested in him or playing a game. (“Hey, you got me woke up/The way you roll that/Sticky like okra/Just let me coach ya/Show you 'bout my culturer/It's the late night show like Conan/Ditch the party, it ain't over/Don't ham it, and grab your friend by the hand/Let me know is you down, /Body like Playmate of the Year/Might might make that play of the year/How we'll know if you don't play fair! /But I think of you and your girl/Just gimme some of that!”)

In the chorus, he says they stay out until 6 am. They can barely think straight after putting the various chemicals into their bodies. (“Out to the sun up/Twisting and burn up/Can't nobody stop us/We're gone delirious/Out to the sun up/Twisting and burn up/Can't nobody stop us/We're gone delirious/La la la la la la/Gimme some of that/Gimme some of that/Gimme some of that/We're gone delirious!/La la la la la la/Come and take a ride/Take it all night, ok”)

They are hanging on Sunset Boulevard. He has his group of his friends, ready to fight at any time. He wishes his best friend was here. He could help him decide which one to pick. He takes out his weed and offers it to them. If they get caught, the blame is on them. (“We on Sunset into the sun up/I got my goons here/Where! So don't you run up/It could get ugly/Think I need a wing man/I'm straight from California, smelling like the weed man/La la la la la la/I got a lot of  and so go and take that hit, drip/One, except for the fifth/I ain't seen nothing/I plead the fifth! /Make your man cease to exist/All this money make no sense, you scared!/Gimme some of that!”)

             The chorus is sung again.

In the bridge, he says they are searching around the city for somewhere to go. They are also drawing attention with all the yelling and shouting from other people. (“We looking for/we looking for some that/We tryna get/We tryna get some of that/We going off/We going off/ We looking for/we looking for some that/ We tryna get some of that/We going off/We going off/Gimme some of that/Gimme some of that/Gimme some of that/ Gimme some of that/Gimme some of that/Gimme some of that/That, that, that,. that, that/Everybody.”)

The chorus is sung again to end the single.

Kid Ink’s nonsenical rap struggles with the arrangement, disrupting the flow of it. He can only talk in time with the beat. He can only resort to standard rap cliches and hope he has a memetic line that catches on.

The pulsating arrangement (despite the three producer credit), in it’s original form as  instrumental “Boneless,” has a watchful, on the run aspect to it. It seems as though someone is escaping from something dangerous. Kid Ink turns it into an ego trip.

The inattentive  “Delirious (Boneless)”  should’ve been left alone and another single chosen (with a vocalist) in its place.
