I think Vasari because their frigates are not cost efficient. A lot of people think TEC but they usually have no idea what they're talking about.
TEC is just straight forward in their design which makes it the easiest to "learn" not necessarily master.
For any newbies seriously starting the game, I strongly suggest NOT playing Vasari first, as they will get you into very bad habits that ruin your TEC and Advent gameplay....

Ryat is a well known troll. Notice how he is the only guy in this thread who thinks TEC is the hardest race.
They are the hardest race. To learn the full complexity of their abilities to achieve victory is very difficult. Vasari is easy, spam phase missiles. Advent is easy. Spam defense ships with corvettes mixed in with scout ships doing the kamakize routine. TEC requires a very delicate balance of everything from support vessels to capital ships to get the best out of them.
