            Bruno Mars would fall apart if the love of his life became indifferent towards him in the  beautiful  “It Will Rain.”

           A tense synth opens the single, setting a passionate tone. She hasn’t looked him in the eye. He knows something is wrong. She tells him she can’t stay long. She’s already lied enough to her parents. He fears the worst: she will side with them. She has given him so much. He couldn’t go on without her. He’d end up self-medicationg to rid himself of the pain. He says he’ll do whatever he needs to do. If it means they can only spend a half hour together, he’ll deal with it. (“If you ever leave me, baby/Leave some morphine at my door/Cause it would take a whole lot of medication/To realize what we used to have/We don't have it anymore/There's no religion that could save me/No matter how long my knees are on the floor, oh/So keep in mind all the sacrifices I'm making/Will keep you by my side/Will keep you from walking out the door.”)

              In the chorus, he says would be depressed. H wouldn’t be able to get through the day without crying a dozen times.  (“Cause there'll be no sunlight/If I lose you, baby/There'll be no clear skiesIf I lose you, baby/Just like the clouds/My eyes will do the same if you walk away/Everyday, it will rain/Rain, rain.”_

           Her mother tolerates him. When her sister’s boyfriend is over, she chats him and treats him like family. She’s simply polite to him. Her father can’t stand him and flat out ignores him. Her father believes a trainwreck mess who’ll screw up his daughter’s life. To be fair, his father is somewhat right about him. He’s gotten into trouble. However, it’s because of her he’s changed. He tells her in time they’ll accept him once they get to know him more. He’s willing to do it if it means she will be with him. (“I'll never be your mother's favorite/Your daddy can't even look me in the eye/Oh if I was in their shoes, I'd be doing the same thing/Saying there goes my little girl/Walking with that troublesome guy/But they're just afraid of something they can't understand/Oh well little darling watch me change their minds/Yea for you I'll try, I'll try, I'll try/I'll pick up these broken pieces 'til I'm bleeding/If that'll make you mine.”)

             The chorus is sung again.

              In the bridge, she thinks maybe they should take some time apart. He pleads with her to reconsider. He will be there to support her in any he can. (“Oh don't you say/Goodbye, don't just say, goodbye/I'll pick up these broken pieces 'til I'm bleeding/If that'll make it right.”)

        The chorus is sung again to end the single.

        Mars’ heartfelt vocals hold back the tears. The threat of losing her is very real. He’s hanging onto her with whatever he can. The thought alone is enough to make a hole in his stomach.

                  The single itelf works within the Twilight story. It is also able to stand alone, varying enough away to have its own identity. Along with Anna Kendrick, the song is one of best things to come from the movies.

               The touching “It Will Rain” will have people searching for the hankies.
