I hate Facebook

I hate Facebook

...with passion.

Not only the stupid thing constantly drops shitloads of notifications into Gmail, only to remind me what a no lifer i am in comparison to my peers and to remind me about certain people and things i really dont want to be reminded, cause they tend to break my mood, but once in a million year, when i fucking need it and want to use it, i find out it wont work the way i want....RAGE....

More specifically, i sent a message today to a certain person i am not a "facebook friend" with. I would really want that message to be read, the thing is, as i found out after i sent it, cause we are not "friends". said message would be dropped into some kind of "Other" inbox instead of regular one . I did not even know there is any Other inbox myself and the best part is, you apparently dont even get notified about new message in that inbox, not even with that "red alert" icon on top of the screen... you just have to manually and intentionally open the inbox to see if there are any messages there... so the chances are pretty high, the message wont be read at all.... now how retarded is that?

sorry for foul language, but i cant help it. fucking facebook!

The people I responded to were people I supposedly new...who requested me to respond.  The Fact that Facebook could not let that happen without banning me shows its incompetence and thus - irrelevance.

It is simply yet another way to NOT directly associate with real humans and improve your social skills...but follow the flock of seagulls.

Wow, I don't know how else to put this but get a life dude. If a service that you hardly even use causes this much anger and jealously then you have much more important things to do then dicking around in these forums.

Like many males I find, I regrettably signed up on FB because my girlfriend desperately wanted me on it.  I have no problem with others using it for the most part, even though I'd never log in again myself.  Although I do get bummed out when I see those who have grown extremely addicted to it -- to the point they're technological zombies who can't put down their smart phone at any point during the day, and sleep with it under their pillow at night.

I believe there should be far more awareness (as well as treatment) for those addicted to FB.  Like many habits in gross excess, it certainly has the potential to ruin lives.  I've seen two marriages end from problems that started on Facebook (while FB may not be completely to blame there), and I can't tell you how many people I know personally who have lost their jobs strictly over their excessive Facebook habits.

Although within my own short-lived time using Facebook, my biggest problem with it is the incredibly CREEPY ways it goes about advertising to you (of course the true purpose of FB is for advertising and providing an incredible wealth of data for various collection purposes).  I'll never forget the time I was in a private chat with a someone on FB, and I discussed possibly taking a trip to Iceland in the future.  Now, I've never once discussed this before on Facebook or even on that computer, nor have I merely looked up the country or taking a vacation on this PC before.  Suddenly within about 2 minutes after mentioning this, I began getting several ads on Facebook repeatedly, all more or less saying "Get cheap plane tickets to Iceland!", sponsored by various companies and websites, and these ads continued into the following time I logged in.

After just one mention in a private conversation of possibly going to a country, this told me loud and clear that absolutely nothing is "private" on Facebook, and lord knows who's reading what.  Now I'm fairly aware of how often we're all being tracked and used for advertising purposes on the internet, but I've never seen such blatant, hideous disregard for privacy.  Haven't looked back since.  I removed most of my friends, and saw to it that I can't get tagged anymore.  No reason to delete the account, as many of us have known for years, Facebook accounts aren't ever deleted from their servers anyway.  The terms you agreed to upon signing up explain how *any* data on your account is theirs (or any 3rd party's unbeknownst to you) to do whatever they see fit, for as long as they see fit.  I challenge anyone to find a website with a weaker privacy policy.  So at this point, I consider myself better off simply never signing back in.

Uhm, well that was kind of unnecessary, dude... and I'm not seeing how the OP is "jealous" of anything -- maybe you misunderstood the post?  It was a rant, but a quite harmless one.  Heed your own words: If a post on a message board is starting to make you feel angry and defensive over something that has literally nothing to do with you personally, perhaps it's best to stop, breathe, and realize it's not worth getting nasty over in the first place.

Hi,

fb is not a bad site. Its just that the way it sends mails to my email accounts is bad.

And i did use it some times and after a while i realized that writing normal e-mails and forum posts  is more friendly than using fb. On fb people do write like they speak or even worse.

And the smileys are also not that funny. Im  20 (twenty) years old and/but  i don`t know the most of them.  It isn`t easy to find out what they mean in sconds. ;) ;-) XD ;) =) )= are the only ones i know b.t.w.  . And the more funny thign is that when i try to write with smileys nobody would understand me, even if i used  one with the wanted meaning. AND FB IS FULL OF THEM! Also i don`t  want to see images my fb friends bithday party  and their new tattos.

I am impervious to your trolling, buddy, so no point trying. :)

If you however happen to be serious this time around, i wish i could. I am however not jealous about anything FB related and only angry, cause the one time i want it to use as a communication channel, it fails me spectacularly.

Anyway, successful thread is successful. Good to see so many fellow haters on board. Maybe we should start a facebook group or something :D

I'm not.

I notice trolling.....call it a 'hobby' of mine....

Trolls' lives here are short.

....one more strike and it's curtains...;)

Face book strips people of the last bit of their soul that they can call their own, and they do it voluntary.  The mind boggles.   o_O

The rich dude that own's it must be laughing his head off.

This came out yesterday and I think really shows the problem with Facebook.

http://www.wired.com/2014/08/i-liked-everything-i-saw-on-facebook-for-two-days-heres-what-it-did-to-me/

It's not really a surprise to the tech savvy.  I do believe there is a place for Social Networking, the problem is that most of what's out there is less about the connections of community and more about how do we aggregate and monetize our members.

I'm aware of a number of alternatives out there, but none of the others are really ready or developed enough yet to even think of taking on the juggernaut that is Facebook.

I'm sorry to hear facebook is causing you stress.

Pro tip: there's a little downward pointing arrow on the right side. Click that, then select 'log out'. Turn off your computer and go outside. Surprisingly, there is life out there ;)

Yes  simply click on log out/(abmelden/ausloggen  in  german) button  :sun:  ;) . Do now look once a week 2 min in my facebook account and i have to say , thats enoguh for me .

My two  email accounts, fiverr gigs , nternet blog  and all my forum posts are  enough XD =) . fb is so limited sometimes.
