Amy Heidemann is ecstatic over a new relationship in the decent “I Want It All.”
Shiny strings open the single, setting a stylish tone. In the intro, she says she can’t wait to sleep with him as Nick Noonan “da da da’s.” (“Yo!/Gotta get you home/Get you all alone/Yeah.”)
While he dances, he keeps sneaking glances to her. She shakes her head at him, grinning. She is certain that he likes her. He only needs to say it to make it official. (“The way that you movin'/You know what you doin'/I want you to prove that I'm right about you/Go ahead, admit it/Oh, sing it.”)
In the pre-chorus, he’s not some casual crush like the other guys. After talking with him, she has to give herself a moment to calm down. She thinks how well he would get along with her friends. Her dad would appreciate his sense of humor. It’s real for her. (“
Oh, I got the feeling down deep inside/Got the feeling I can't deny/Got the feeling that makes me high/Only thing is, baby/I want it all/I want it all.”)
In the chorus, she almost has him. Tomorrow could be life changing for her. She can’t wait to start her new life. (“All I need is one more night with you/It's amazing what just one more night can do/I want it all/I want it all/ All I need is one more night with you/It's amazing what just one more night can do/I want it all/I want it all.”)
She hasn’t told any of her friends or family about him yet. She doesn’t want to hide it anymore, either. She wants to include him in her life. (“You get me excited/But I keep it private/My world is divided/Without you it won't be the same, can't take it/Oh, sing it.”)
The pre-chorus and chorus are sung again.
The pre-chorus doubles as the bridge.
The chorus is sung again to end the single.
Heidemann’s thin vocals are made capable with lots of help from Auto-tune. Auto-tune nowadays is like salt. It’s put on everything. However, it shouldn’t be obvious. The pitch clearly changes during the “I want it all” lyric. It’s progress, though. Her attempts at rapping with the corny puns and nonexistent humor were embarassing.
After the previous singles, the okay “I Want It All” can be listened with both ears.
