Natalie Horler lets her down her guard for her crush in the fiery “Fever.”
Bombastic synths open the single, setting a dominating tone. Her driver lets her know she is at the club. She tells him thanks and heads towards the back door. A guy spots her, calling out “hey baby” to her. She ignores him and continues walking, as he asks her if that was her ride and that she might’ve seen her picture online somewhere. He states the kind of car he drives and his job. She finally cuts him off mid-sentence and says she’s not his baby. She also tells him that although she’s wealthy, it doesn’t mean she’s shallow and materialistic. (“I am not a beauty queen, traveling in a limousine/I'm a girl but don't call me baby/Who the **** is VIP? Live a life in luxury/I don't care so just call me crazy.”)
In the pre-chorus, she finds her crush. He holds her in his arms. After they finish their embrace, she tells him she needs a moment. She tells him, with a sheepish grin, that she got dizzy. (“Can you give it out?/Don't stop, just take it to the limit/Watch me boy, it's spinning around this time/Hush, hush, running to the night, feel alive.’)
In the chorus, she likes spending time with him. There is no need to be defensive around him. He brings out her energetic, easygoing side. If only he would ask her out. (“I just can't get enough when I'm with you/'Cause your fever makes me feel so good/Turn it up, boy, you make your move/See I'm burning but it feels so good/Can't get enough when I'm with you/You got fever but it feels so good/Turn it up, baby, make your move/Keep me burning 'cause it feels so good.”)
She doesn’t date a lot. Most of the time, she finds guys want to control her and knock her down a peg. However, she knows he is right for her. He doesn’t seem certain, though. She has to know if they are real or just a fling. (“I don't need no superman, trying to tell me who I am/Know it all's a driving me crazy/Nothing ever is for sure, I can't take this anymore/All I want is yes or no, baby.”)
The pre-chorus and chorus are sung again.
In the bridge, he is kissing her and she’s ready to explode. (“It's so hot, do it, do it real good/Can't stop, do it, do it real good/It's so hot, do it, do it real good/Can't stop, do it, do it real good/It's so hot, do it, do it real good/Baby, you have fever/Can't stop, do it, do it real good/Baby, you got fever/It's so hot, do it, do it real good/Baby, you got fever/Can't stop.”)
The chorus is sung once more to end the single.
Horler’s self-assured vocals know what she wants and isn’t afraid to put others in their place. All her life, people have treated her differently due to her wealth. They want the access. However, she sees it as a burden. Her crush could care less about her status. He likes her for who she is.
The luscious “Fever” ignites just with excitement alone.
