Good Girls Go Bad

Album: Hot Mess

Year: 2009

Gabe Saporta likes to corrupt the girl-next-door types in the  routine  “Good Girls Go Bad.”

Affable synths open the single, setting a spasmatic  tone. Part of the chorus is sung to start the single. He states the sweet girls, dressed in their jersey tank tops with the thick straps and denim pencil skirts, have the most crazy side in them. (“I make them good girls go bad/I make them good girls go/Good girls go bad, good girls go bad.”)

The conservative girls stand out to him. Proper and standing straight, she’s nursing her drink. The ice has already melted. It’s likely been her only drink for the night. He approaches her, telling her she knows exactly what’s she like: her dad dotes on her and she adores him. It would kill her to disappoint him. However, he says it would be so much constraining. He can give her an escape of doing the right thing for an evening. (“I know your type, you're daddy's little girl/Just take a bite (One bite)/Let me shake up your world/'Cause just one night couldn't be so wrong/I'm gonna' make you lose control.”)

In the pre-chorus, she turned away from him, blushing. But she was curious. He kissed her – hard and strong – on the lips and she responded by putting her hands under his shirt. They walk back inside into the club. He sees the group of her girlfriends, some with their arms folded and others shaking their hands. He thinks they were the ones who told her to stay away. However, away from the safety of her friends, she’s rather quite curious and experimental. (“She was so shy till I drove her wild/I make them good girls go bad/I make them good girls go bad/You were hanging in the corner/With your five best friends/You heard that I was trouble/But you couldn't resist.”)

The full chorus is sung. (“I make them good girls go bad/I make them good girls go/Good girls go bad bad bad/Good girls go bad bad bad/Good girls go.”)

Leighton Meester says he’s the not the first bad boy to hit on her. She has taught herself to be polite and then back off. She knows everything he is telling her to sleep with her. He has no interest in what she does every day. However, he is really gorgeous. There is nothing average about him. (“I know your type, boy you're dangerous/You're that guy I'd be stupid to trust/But just one night couldn't be so wrong/You make me wanna lose control.”)

Saporta sings the first part of the pre-chorus. Meester joins in for the second part. (“She was so shy till I drove her wild..I was hanging in the corner/With my five best friends/I heard that you were trouble/But I couldn't resist.”)

A variation of the chorus is sung. (“I make them good girls go bad/I make them good girls go/Good girls go bad bad bad/Good girls go bad bad bad/Good girls go bad.”)

In the bridge, Saporta mentions she was standoffish, waving away drinks from other guys and avoiding the ones who were nipping at her heels, passing them without a second glance. She mentions he spent his time with the women hanging by the bar, throwing annoyed looks at the dance floor. (“Oh, she got away with the boys in the place/Treat 'em like they don't stand a chance/And he got away with the girls in the back/Acting like they're too hot to dance/Yeah, she got away with the boys in the place/Treat 'em like they don't stand a chance/And he got away with the girls in the back/Acting like they're too hot to dance.”)

Another variation of the chorus is sung. (“I make them good girls go bad/I make them good girls go bad/Good girls go bad, yeah/Good girls go bad.”)

Meester sings her part of the pre-chorus again.

An extended chorus ends the single. (“I make them good girls go bad/I make them good girls go bad/I make them good girls go/Good girls go bad bad bad/Good girls go bad bad bad/Good girls go bad.”)

Saporta’s homely vocals show off pictures of his conquests but are hard to believe. He is most likely found their pictures from the advertisements on the Internet, created a bunch of fake profiles on Facebook in an effort to seem wanted.

Meester’s chic vocals puts careful thought into how she presents herself. She doesn’t want to be the girl throwing up on the way to her car. She can handle her liquor, though. She is nowhere innocent. However, it’s a personality trait others assume. Most guys think they unlocked the wanton side of her. Little did they know it’s already there.

The   oblivious  “Good Girls Go Bad” gets played.
