Sins won't let me highlight ships of different types

When I attempt to highlight ships of different types(IE. A colony ship, and light freight) it will not highlight both of them, making it hard to create fleets/control groups.

Not sure if it is an intended feature, but I haven't found anything about it in the options.

First of all, that particular example will never work. Sins will not let you select combat ships like light frigates and non-combat ships like a colony frigate together, because this is usually accidental. You should really order all of your non-combat ships independently of your battle fleet.

 

If this is occurring even with only combat units, see if your alt key is jammed, I think that's the key that lets you select all units of a particular type when you click on one.

If you truly want to select ships of different types you'll need to hold the Ctrl key to add to your current select (this can be combined with the Alt key to speed up selection)

E.g.

  1. Hold Alt and click on a light frigate (all light frigates in the gravity well are now selected)
  2. Hold Ctrl + Alt and click on a colony frigate (all light frigates and all colony frigates in well are now selected)
  3. Create fleet
