Why?

I will write in vague code as requested, when discussing vault topics...which this is only about. I want to give some feedback and maybe find some answers.

Fist off. I, had no idea we could influence such a drastic game change.

Why can't pragmatics get a diplo bonus, every thing else looked good...except the bonuses to actual good races. The tree in the current alpha had some great bonuses for benevolent races.

Also, if said object is getting "stuff" within the reach of a star, there should not be a range penalty since its in so close.

Now. I really, really, really think this is getting convoluted. Building "stuff" and defending systems used to be easier to do and manage. Even one queue in its blandness, was easy to manage and ...buying stuff was practical.

I am worried that the map will be cluttered with %#&4'gt and planets all needing to be guarded and managed and found. having to manually move ships like in the current build, to defend planets isn't cool. I hope there will be ways to have ships automatically move to "waypoints".

Why can't this be done like it was before anyway? What changed where there are now "special requirements" to build "some ships". If "*trade goods*" are going away, why can't "it" stay on planet and be "produced" like we REALLY wanted. If its in space, why not in orbit?

I also hope players can modd what "stuff" they want to build on world. Like, large sized chocolate ice cream or medium vanilla ice cream. Because it may not be obvious to some, that to get what they loved and arguably paid for, they have to build the important "stuff" "there" not to retract from the "way".

its not right. SD can do better than the place they've found themselves in. I am wondering, if the new idea doesn't work out. will we go back to what we have now. Keep it anyway. Or finally try going back to the twin suns method that was loved so much.

?

(still a great game it's just...confusing right now. :) )

Just my opinion.

what conclusion, I stated my philosophy about our role. (or ideology :) )

Btw what are you asking?

Sorry DARCA1213, I meant where did the dev's come up with the ideas in SY 100

I've edited the post.

A starbase-like starport can be a issues in the smaller maps where rushing a fighter can lock the enemy. Allowing some kind of basic fighter to be produced on the planets (come on, trans-atmospheric craft powah!) could help maybe. Or just lead to a boring game of rushing ships? Bigger maps wouldn't have such problem due to distances, right?

But I like the idea. It makes more sense. It makes the location choice to be really important. May be more difficult to develop/balance but it seems to open lots of new options. Interesting ones. We will see once they add it to the game for us to test. :)

And before I forget it, I like "Mining Outpost".

Why ask me, I'm just a founder like you?

I think they are creative individuals that sometimes find inspiration in the forums.

I was hoping to get some feedback from them about the motivation. Whether it was our comments or a combination that they tried something and they really liked it, Wanted to expand on that idea. Right now in the beta my second planet only builds ships as a taste of the new ideas to come (buy all the factory space and give it a whirl see if you like it. avoid building anything ship on first planet except constructor.

Watch the vault fellow founder born. Lol. All we can do is comment and read hours everyday. Occasionally looking in the vault and try to be the first to respond to dev statements. It's a sad hard life of reading and eye drops after midnight, but what else can we do? Wait patiently for dev posts and answers. Yea right. Lol. :)

I could post over on the steam forums. Paul seems to answer feedback more over there.

I tried it with one planet or small planets only dedicated to ship building and I've got to say it is fun to get these ships out and flying around. Makes the universe feel more alive with movement of my ships. Can't wait for dedicated shipyards to do this with.

OK after yesterdays F-up i rewritten my feedback. Hope it makes sence without spoiling to much:

Topic SY100

  1. I am sorry but the choice about the  constructor makes no sence .
a special new type of vessel: “YYY module” especially designed to build the YYY would be better. It will also give option to enhance them  on a modular bases  (ooh fun now its more then just researching and no instant refitting either  )
The module should be auto-launched after which players can move and build on the main map and act as described. The constructor has no need for changes.

  2. Constructors could/ should be able to build starports instead

  3. A  slider?
Atm we have the 3way disc to divide. How will this be affected?
I  suspect that the ‘ slider’  will be a further detailed dividing of the production section  as set on the disc
If so will research and wealth get extra detailing to (please do  )
Example: 2 researches parallel based on divided resources :type 1 as we know it know.; Type 2 ‘reverse engineering. No idea on wealth. Maybe tourism and economics where both can be affected by different events.

    1. .

    2. How will un-used resources be used?

  4. How will we fill up colony and troop ships. I suggest they must land and get filled / unload on a planet . This combigned with making them able to be re-used will give us other/ new strategies

  5. This means max 1 per planet? Multiple would be intresting. Best would be if we could even assign resource % per.

    1. – uuh well most likely we will spam these instead that we will micromanage

  6. .

    1. Will there be a max  distance cap?

    2. Starport could help here

    3. why is this needed for larger fields?

  7. extra penalty for crossing other races territory based on relation (call it tax)
Will we be able to plunder or disrupt the resource lines?

It seems possible to place these outside my own territory. If so wil they affect my ships flying range? Will they bring ‘culture’?  etc etc. In other words what effect will they have on the map?

I'm actually quite excited about the SY100 announcement, although there are some points that need clarity -

If SYs get resources from planets, what, if anything, governs which planet(s) they receive resources from? Can you change the planet it leeches from? Can you, f'rinstance, set your entire damn empire feeding one glorious SY to spit out ridiculous quantities of superdreadnoughts toot-sweet? Or can one planet feed multiple SYs? Or can you set a really dedicated research-world to contribute nothing to shipbuilding? Can they also be set to be improved by resource starbases/anomalies? (Remember how you'd plop an economy starbase in the middle of a really productive system to supercharge it, or you might drop on a planet which had an event/building which improved the ships it built, eg Hyperion Shipyard)

Will SY/starbases/mining bases be able to feed off empty systems like a la this?

How will un-used resources be used?

Probably just feeds back either into domestic social production or into credits.

Will there be a max  distance cap?
Doesn't seem like it but will be limited in that resources bleed away the further you go.

why is this needed for larger fields?
Probably due to fact it will allow better power projection than there ever has been - just park a yard a bzillion light years away and pump out an invasion fleet for the win.
