Absolutely critical advice for new players
I play a lot of multiplayer and this is seriously pissing me off. Many players, even the skilled ones, leave the game far too early. They think that just because 2-3 teammates left, their chance of victory is hopeless. That is the most absurd and unfortunately, the most widely believed myth in multiplayer today. Most of them usually still have a few planets left!!
To use a football analogy, you don't abandon the game just because your team is down two touchdowns. If Tim Tebow followed the habits of most of the sins community, he would have never won all those games in the 4th quarter, and henceforth be known as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Likewise, a grandmaster chess player doesn't forfeit because he has only a pawn and king left. You can still force a draw through a stalemate or 50 max turns rule. With sufficient skill, you might even eek out a victory.
Same thing with sins. I've seen more than 50 games where a single player beat his opponents after all his teammates left. The reason its not impossible is because the opposing side underestimates you and slacks off on microing and macroing. Meanwhile, you are at over 110% energy level. Plus, contrary to popular opinion, the AIs are actually very powerful and can beat over 90% of ICO players.
So I'm going to leave this advice to the newcomers: don't ever quit. Even if you only have one planet left with a marza and a couple of flak ships, that is still enough to turn the tide of the game. Ignore the rants and tirades of the so-called "skilled" players about bla bla bla lag, ignore their talk of putting you on a "ban-list," and ignore the insults aimed at your "unsportsman-like" conduct. You know whats unsportsman-like? Being a quitter. Your parents didn't raise you to be one, did they? If you follow these guidelines, then maybe, just maybe we can change the deviant, profligate, and corrupt culture of the multiplayer community.
Thank you.
