UTC±

The repository of alpha testers

G'day Elite Guard, if everyone writes down their time zone and available play times we should be able to work out a list of people who are able to play together quite easily! I'll kick it off

Time zone: UTC +8

Availability: Flexible

Nice, short, sweet posts like that and we should be able to collate the information pretty easily.

UTC and GMT are the same thing, also we're an international community so don't say US east/central/west time, I'm not going to put in the effort to figure out what the UTC- is ;)

I'd like to recommend that if you're up for a game join the steam GC3 alpha testers group and PM people on here who's playing times line up and I imagine that we're all going to have a great time.

To avoid maths for everyone every bodies available/preferred playing times in the list above are already in UTC, just find somebody who matches up!

Thanks for taking the initiative to do this. I think that was needed. I think a more descriptive thread name might have been a plus though.

UTC-5

prime availability:  between 20:00h and 1:00am  most days.

*May extend a little due to the ''One last turn syndrome''

UTC-0800 [PDT]

Unfortunately, availability is very limited ... I work the night shift which has me gone from 1730 PDT to 0600 PDT (0130 - 1400 GMT) on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights into the following mornings, and occasionally Wednesday nights.  1-2 hours between work and sleep is woefully inadequate to play a TBS, so these nights/mornings are generally not good for me with the exception of Saturday morning after work, as I can stay up several hours since I don't have a Saturday evening shift.  Generally, good times for me are Saturday 1900 PDT/Sunday 0500 GMT to Sunday 1000 PDT/1800 GMT, or Sundays and usually Wednesdays starting around the same time but only to 0800 PDT/1600 GMT those nights.

Now that you mention, I would be UTC-4 too right now because of daylight saving time.

As an Australian I have no idea what "EST" means, please remove some of that american arrogance and add a UTC timezone =)

Fate,

I really think it is more that most US citizens don't know or understand about the current Prime Meridian and their distance from it (like not knowing the metric system -- miles instead of kilometers). So here is a translation:

EDT = UTC -4 -- EST = UTC - 5   (Eastern states, generally)

CDT = UTC- 5 -- CST = UTC - 6  (Central states, generally, sometimes called MidWestern states)

MDT = UTC - 6 -- MST = UTC - 7 (Mountain states, generally)

PDT = UTC - 7 -- PST = UTC - 8 (Pacific states)

Then there is Alaska and Hawaii, of which I keep having trouble with their time zones, but I seem to remember that Alaska spans more than one time zone,

Naturally, there are some states in some regions that observe time as in an adjacent region, some states that are split between two time zones (lower Michigan and Michigan's norther peninsula, for example), and some states that don't observe Daylight Savings Time at all, so it gets even more confusing.
