What Movie Did You Last See?

What Movie Did You Last See?

What's the last movie you saw?  Doesn't matter if it was at home or at a theater.

Last one I saw was Captain Philips.  I thought it a pretty good movie, especially since it was based on real events.

hemlock grove.  Oye.  I watched about 8 episodes of that.  It got way to creepy gory for me... the creepy gore never let up.  Starkers, you like hemlock Grove, so well, now I am very happy you did not adopt me.        The affects in it are just awesome.  Making a woman missing her lower abdomen etc still seem so dead, and then 'alive.'  And kissing.  eeeeeeeeeeee    Oh, and did I mention   eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?

Yeah, Hemlock Grove was a bit gory, but I saw past that to follow the storyline and plot.  There is a season 2 due to be aired in the next few weeks, and I shall be glued to it just as I was with the 1st.  Besides, it's all fantasy and never likely to happen, so it isn't quite as shocking.  What I do find disturbing and refuse to watch is movies with nut-jobs running around with chainsaws, etc.  Stuff like that does happen and is too close to reality to be entertainment, in my book.

We share similar views about horror genre.  I have zero interest in chainsaw maniac type flicks - too much like real life.  I guess, for Grove, I feel like some of it is also close to reality.  Perhaps that reflects more on my warped sense of reality... lol.  The plot was the only thing that kept me watching for so long.  Guess I will just read the spoilers, later.

Last night I saw a movie called Pathfinder on Foxtel On Demand.  It is about a Viking boy who is disowned and abandoned by his father during a raiding party on American Indian soil prior to Columbus.  The young boy is adopted by the chief of a tribe and his wife, while he is raised in the Indian ways.  However, another Viking raiding party wipes out most of his village and he has to choose between his heritage or the people who raised him.

It is more violent than I would have liked, but I think it was necessary to effectively tell the story.  This movie is well worth watching and I'd give it an 8 or 9 out of 10 for storyline and plot.

Saw Pathfinder awhile back. I expected it to be violent considering the times.

The violence, while quite graphic at times, was not overdone done to gratuitous excess like in some action movies.  Like you said, "considering the times" and the fact that survival often meant that your violence had to overwhelm the opponent's/enemies own violence.  Still, it was a movie I enjoyed and could watch again a bit further down the track.

Earlier I watched Luc Besson's fururistic Lockout with Guy Pearce in the lead role of a morally corrupt agent who is sent to rescue the US president's daughter from a penal colony on a space station.  This one I'd give a 7 out of 10 for storyline and plot.  Again there is alot of violence, but that should be expected given it is set in a prison for societies worst criminals.

Saw that one too. I liked it.

Last night I watched Chaos with Jason Statham of The Transporter trilogy fame.  In this movie Statham plays the part of a disgraced [yet blameless] cop who is suspended for the shooting death of a hostage after a bank robbery.  The architect of another bank robbery demands that if he must deal with police, the disgraced cop must be the lead police negotiator or he will start shooting hostages.

A chaotic chain of events ensues as the bank robbers escape and always manage to stay one step ahead of the investigative team pursuing them. I'd give this movie a 7 out of ten also

Haven't watched anything recently - like in the last few days - but after the rugby league Friday night I'm going to watch 'Jack The Giant Slayer' on Foxtel on-demand.  I like that, legally downloading and being able to select a movie or TV show to watch it any time I like as often ass I like... no waiting for scheduled programming and all that.  'Tis bloomin' marvellous... this Foxtel.

After that I might watch 'Snow White And The Huntsman'.  I'm in a bit of a fantasy without porn mood, so why not!

Bought 'The Thing' (original version) on DVD a few weeks ago. Great film :)

I saw the original 'Fly' a few weeks ago, with David Hedison... who was also Captain Crane on 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea'

I read yesterday that his daughter, Alexandra Hedison, married Jodi Foster... the original Clarice Starling in 'Silence of the Lambs'  What a shame she didn't continue in the role for Hannibal, in which Julianne Moore was her replacement.  Of the two, I prefer Jodi Foster in the role, she was more convincing, I thought.  Another Movie of Foster's I'd like to see again is Nell, which she also produced, with Liam Neeson.  For mine, that was her absolute best role... in a totally brilliant movie.... with Contact running a very close second.

Yeah, I like Jason Statham, he just seems so calm and relaxed in all his action roles.  I first saw him in The Transporter and liked what he did, so rented the sequels as well.  He was brilliant in Chaos, if you're into action thrillers it's one to watch.

Saw the Bicentennial Man recently. Then I stumbled upon one of my favorites. Not a movie but a standup by an accomplished comedian, Bill Cosby.

The Worlds End with Simon Pegg. It was decent and it had it moments, but it was sort of classic Simon Pegg movie - too similar to Shaun of the Dead and his other movies...

In any case, as Dexter says, tonight´s the night! Going to catch up on last 3 episodes of Vikings. Hannibal and GoT ive been neglecting over the course of this month.
