A More Mature GalCiv3?

A More Mature GalCiv3?

I've never been too bothered about the cartoon aspect of Galciv2. The funny looking news robot or the evil squirrels, the lighthearted humor in Galciv 2 wasn't really all that funny to be fair; nor did the game at any point try to take itself serious.

However a mate of mine earlier today brought up the subject of Galciv3 with the hope that it would be more mature, that it would at least try this time to take itself seriously. And from something that I was never really bothered about before, I have to say I agree.

Galciv 2 had its charms and Galciv 3 doesn't need to lose that charm. However I am hoping that Galciv 3 will have grown up a little and dump the non-funny dialogue, evil squirrels and good natured teddy bears and exchange that with something that feels more immersive for a space 4x game. I'm not asking for a dark filled warhammer 40k universe, but a more grown up aspect of what we got in Galciv 2 with less attempts at lighthearted fuzzy wuzzy humor...

Anyone else agree?

I agree with thread starter, the comedy get`s old after a while. And not every part of the world has the same anglosaxon style humor.

Agree that some comedy gets old. Why not have a check box, or slider, available at each game set up.  This box/slider would allow the player to maximize, reduce, or complete stop the 'humor' portions of the game code from running.

Because then you have to write several times more dialog, descriptions, and anything where the humor is, with varying levels of humor in the new stuff, then categorize it all so the slider knows what to turn on and off.

Adding an option is not a viable solution to this problem (or many others where it's suggested).

Hey Tridus, don't get mad, we can always include the option for less options.

He is right though, hoping for that kind of feature is unrealistic.  Furthermore, this would be confusing for the new players.

I agree with the OP 100%.  Unfortunately, the devs - and what looks like the majority of the player base - don't.

I question the seriousness of both your avatar and your forum nickname

LMFAO I am rolling on the floor man and I just woke up too thanks a lot! ;P XD

Well for the most part I don't question the character of the game. I definatly think this is more color full than civilization. If there were an option to shut this off I would probably would pick both options. If I have to pick one I like color. What I would like to see when we get updates to the game. A text rewrite would be nice, but not because the text is a problem, but it would be nice to have a change of dialogue sometimes. I like colorful dialogue.

Here's an idea how about a list of dialogues for all those situations on each faction leader, so when you talk or get talked to it would be a more varied conversation when you talk. I think that is better than trying to change the feel of the game. Honestly I don't think this is an issue it is up to the game to decide how the feel is.

As far as factions I would like to see E.T. was nice. How about alien.

A random pick amongst different list of dialogues for each diplomatic lesituation would at least keep from being redundant after awhile.
